Well i bought an iPod nano (16 gb) and it says that it can store 16 hours of video and 4,000 songs. I know im not going to use the 4,000 songs, so can i download more than 16 hours of video. or is there a limit on how much hours of video you can store??

thanks in advance
(sorry if it is a noobish question)

Correct me if im wrong It means at max it can store 16 hours of video and no songs. Or you can store 4000 songs but no videos...so no u cant have more than 16 hours of video

It holds 16GB TOTAL.

So you can you use all of that 16GB for video, and that could be way more than 16 hrs depending on the file type and what you did to it.

so if i had to split equally i would have to do 8 hours of video and 2000 songs. right??

not quite.

according to some of my calculations, some of the shows that i've torrented and converted down are ~115 MB for a 22 min show.

so ~16000/115 = 139 x 22 = 3060 minutes of TV.

and thats ~ 50 hrs of shows on a 16 GB Ipod, maxed out for videos.

lol you can even have 100 hours of video, it all depends on the quality and you can lower your quality since the nano screen is small. so it shouldn't matter if the video quality is low, it can even by youtube quality and those are like 5mb a 10 minute video. BTW it all depends on ur file size, not length of hours

When you see "hours of video" or "number of songs", the company is just approximating.

Typical mp3s (most people are ~128kbps before you nitpickers pounce) are around 2-4 megabytes. If you split the difference at 3mb, and 16gb=16384mb, that's roughly 5500 songs.

If your song files are really small, your ipod or itunes won't pop up magically at 4,000 songs and say, "HEY! NO MORE SONGS!"

you'll be surprised how fast you can add 4000 songs.
