Anybody feel that PHT can actually add spin?
I cannot feel that way:(

nope. its all mental but someone will say there is spin, but seriously, how can that string provide "extra spin" when the string has a octagonal profile. it is such a slight shape on the the small diameter of the string that it would not be able to do anything to the tennis ball

I think a major factor of the ability to help spin production is the stiffness and the gauge of the string. I don't know if the profile has anything to do with it, but after testing a butt-load of polys, I always come back to it (17g) for my mains.

I use PHT and I feel I get that extra bite out of the ball. Just my opinion though.

hated it. no spin and the ball slides off the stringbed

i didn't get any spin. better off with blue gear

i agree but i dont come back to pht

I find that hexegonal shapes on strings make them have a softer feel. this is especially apparent on Wilson's Super Spin Hexegonal.

that's because super spin is a syn gut. pht has spin just because it is a polyester string

what I meant was, Super Spin is much softer compared to many competing synthetic guts. what I was trying to connect was that the hexagonal shape could have something to do with it. PHT, also, felt much softer than its stiffness rating indicates.

Makes me want to try Blue Gear even more

If you can't get good spin with PHT you really need to see a coach not a stringer.

i noticed a minimal difference in spin potential with the PHT.. after using pro supex blue gear, i noticed a HUGE difference in spin potential

i think that theres a chance that PHT could have more spin than other polys, but i dont think the texture has anything to do with it

i saw pht on strungforum website and it showed it cut in close up with magnifying glass, compared to focus hex and stuff, it barely has a octagon shape, its more rounf than octagon

I have not noticed any increase of spin.

Haha another one..... Darn, I am possibly considering cutting out a racket now to try out BG... ;)

Of course there are always a few dubious ones, but most people who talk about the spin of BG, oddly, use the word "insane."

Funny that - I think pht USED to have the "insane" spin tag :)

It is my favorite string, but it drops tension way too fast, I think its spin potential has more to do with it being a poly than it being hexagonal in shape.

they're throwing spitback from nickb's poly thread.:-|
