Hey, just got a reel of Isospeed Baseline Spin. Just thought I'd do a quick review just because there are none that I can see.

Stringing:
Stringing was a little bit of a hassle, even for a poly. The string kinks almost automaticially. I was suprised it didn't break while stringing. The coating made it so I had to set my clamps tighter than usual. Weaving wasn't too bad. The string stretched more than, say, Big Ace. I strung it up at 58.

Groundstrokes:
This string is pretty powerful, so I had to take full western cuts at the ball just to keep it in play. If your not a big topspin hitter, this is probably not the string for you. Shots were pretty deep, sometimes too deep if I didn't put enough spin on it. Had good spin for a 1.20mm. Didn't leave black marks on the ball either.

Volleys:
This string plays nice and crisp up at net. Again, a little bit of adjustment is needed due to the power. Volleys were nice and deep, though.

Serves:
Serving took some getting used to, but once I was dialed in, they were nice. Kick serves were routinely above my opponents shoulders. Flat serves stuck in the fence half the time. A very nice serving string

Overall, a very nice string for 40 bucks a reel. If you don't want to spring for the reel just yet. I'd be more than happy to send off 40 ft to anyone for a few bucks.

would you be interested in trading a few sets off for other strings?

Same. Considering its price, I'm very surprised that not a lot of people have tried it. Can you send me a set?

It's really great poly... nice and soft. It's the best poly deal out there.

I didn't have any trouble with it kinking or slipping while stringing it.

It makes a really nice gut hybrid, too.

im using isospeed control. At first i strung it at 57lbs. This was way too loose/powerfull. Now i string it at 63 lbs and its perfect. Great at the net.Great amount of power and control. I do a full job

Really? What kind of machine do you have? I'm still pretty new (only about 50 stringjobs) so I still haven't got it down quite yet.

Max,
After I run through all the strings in my present "Poly Hybrid Survey," I might take you up on that offer.

I've always been curious about Iso-Speed Baseline Spin; it looks like one of the best deals out there. (Iso-Speed is one of the better companies on the market.)

Cool, sounds good. I'm probably gonna try it as a cross with some cyberflash in the mains once I break these or my weisscannon scorpion/titan hybrid in my other AG200. It'd make a nice cross.

Damn! Amazing for such a cheap poly.

Hey Max,
Let me pay you for a 40' set How much? Three bucks? I gotta try this!

Can anyone compare it to CF 1.20?

I string with a Gamma X-2.

To Bud and the OP:
How is the tension maintenance and how does the string play across it's life? I normally cut out strings fi they haven't broken before 20 hours or so, but I'm curious to hear how they wear.

Also, have either of you tried Gosen Polylon SP, or Topspin poly Polar? I'd be interested in a reel replacement for either :)

Let me know.

tension for me lasts about a day or two.
but i usually string up in like the 70's or high 60's.

but after a week or two i feel alot of tension drop/

Tension maintenance isn't that great actually. I have noticed over the past 3 days that my groundstrokes are flying long. I strung one of my AG200's up at 57, so tonight I'll probably bump the tension up to 62 or so. It certainly has a lot of room for increasing, because its pretty powerful.

I've only tried polylon, and I can say that Isospeed is a lot better for the money.

Baseline Spin is a lot softer than cyberflash, and only a little softer than big ace.

Yeah, shoot me an email at ccmoo22@yahoo.com

It's a lot softer than CF, but has about the same spin potential.

hmmm..... sounds like a cheap alternative for big ace to put in the crosses with CF

Yeah, it'd be a great cross. I think thats gonna be the exact setup I'm gonna try tonight. I'll report back to let you know how it plays, because if it plays good for me, itll probably play good for you seeing as how we both use leaded AG200's. Although I string about 10lbs higher than you, so that could be a difference.

ehhh my sig is rather outdated, those were my tensions on stock AG200s im in the low 60s now

Max, sorry for the holdup. I have a few sets of other poly's lying around, and I'm just working my way through them. This is the first time I've ever tried poly, and so far, the two that I've tried aren't impressing me. I have one more to try (Kirsh Competition). After that, I'll probably send you the 3 dollars.

mine are at 13.2, so not quite as heavy as yours, but they are less HL then stock, so they pack a punch

My friend gave me a set of Isospeed Baseline Long Life (I think it was... some pretty darn thick black string). Strung up the M2 first, and then the Isospeed. The Isospeed was... okay. Nothing special, no added spin. Played with it for one session, then decided to cut it out. I guess it's an okay string, considering I had no string movement. However, it did (still) feel way too stiff despite the fact that I strung it at 54 lbs. The biggest issue for me was the lack of power.

The M2 I hybrided with the Wilson hollow core (read my review... somewhere). Like the Isospeed, I thought it was too stiff. Maybe poly just isn't my thing... I'll string up the Kirsh at around 50.

I find that tension lasts quite a long time. However, I string in the low to mid 40's on a dropweight stringer and am very careful not to overstretch the string and potentially ruin the playability.

I definitely prefer it over Poly Polar... which incidentally I still have a partial reel of :)

no, i dont really have any way to measure SW, but if i had to guess, i would put it in the high 350's... i just add lead till it feels right :D

btw, did you receive my 3 bucks yet?

Max Winther

Well if you have a gram scale you can do it with the swingweight calculator on TW university. Oh and yes I recieved it today, the strings will get shipped out tomorrow.

Just an update: Strung the Isospeed with some Blue gear 16 in the mains at 59/61, and it is wicked. I love it. Scalpel like control, crazy spin, and very low powered. Probably gonna stick with this hybrid till I get tired of it.

I have some BG 1.28. I was going to cross it with Titan. But I'll have a half-set left--cross with Spin?

You guys like poly/poly hybrids?!

I've got a bunch of plans for some poly/multi hybrids.

Maybe I'll try some poly/poly hybrids with the leftover half sets.
