View Full Version : 2 Hand Backhand Motion

I was just wondering, for those who hits 2 hand backhands, for your getting ready motion, before the ball comes to you do you bring the racquet in a loop. From bottom-up or do you swing it from the middle and hitting it kind of like a baseball bat?
I just wanted to get some ideas and please tell me what works for you and why.

Depends on the shot you want to produce. I come around in more of a straight line when I want to hit heavy and flat, and then alter the angle for however much topspin I want to put on a shot i.e. flat shot= 0 degrees, straight path vs. 45 degrees low to high path. (assume 90 is vertical).
Hope that made sense.:)

I don't think it should be a consideration.
Your strokes develop as you hit lots and play lots.
Some people, like me, started out mechanical on the backswing, straight back, hesitate, then stroke upwards slightly for top. But under duress, a much shorter prep and a slice!
After two years, most people said my loopy prep on two hander!
Watching the pros, some hit with level flat takeback, some loop it.
Just practice lots and see what develops, what works, what's consistent for YOU and your personal physique.
