I moved to the DC area and am looking for indoor courts and/or pros who give lessons. Anybody have any suggestions?? I currently don't have a car, so places near the Metro are best for me.

There is a poster on these boards who runs clinics and lessons at a sport and health club in skyline (Arlington). The club is bus accessible. I have the same problem- I need to metro everywhere! Good and bad points. What level are you? Where did you move to?

P.s. Check out the tennis warehouse mid Atlantic chapter- tons of players close to DC

I played high school varsity, but I haven't played as much in the last few years. I'm almost 24 and would rate myself a 3.0-3.5 player; I'm in the Arlington area near Reagan Airport.

Where can I contact or find the Tennis Warehouse-Mid Atlantic chapter?

Most of the members are from the Tri-state region. They hold small tennis meets every once in a while (especially when the weather is nice outside). One of the members (Sup2dresq) also gives lessons and holds clinics.

I live in Arlington as well, if the weather was nicer I would definitely try to set something up. Did you play varsity tennis in this area?

I grew up in the Seattle area, so I played there.

yeah, I went to school in D.C. though :). It is extraordinarily cold right now, but if you want to try to set up some indoor time to hit, let me know! I am up for playing outdoors too- just not when it is under 35 degrees.

I'm not too keen on playing at these temps anyway unless it is indoors in a nice heated place.

want to try to set something up for this weekend? I have some new frames I want to try out... have you found any good leads for indoor court time?

Boys, East Potomac Tennis Center is indoor and can be reserved by the public, as well as the court at Rock Creek Park in the bubble.

Though, it is so cold that even indoor is cold!!!

I live in (del ray) crystal city area and take lessons/clinics at haines point. I ride my bike up the bike path and across the 14th street bridge to haines point. They have 5 indoor courts and a bunch of outdoor clay courts.

Is there a bus that goes there?

Are you from like Manhattan or somewhere like that? You need a car to get to places here in the DC metropolitan area. It would be helpful if you can tell us exactly where you're moving to.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I am from Seattle, I have lived in the DC area for more than a year and a half already, but I don't have a car, since I am still a student

Dunno on public transportation but here is the google map from airport to ctr (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=1+Aviation+Cir,+Washington,+DC+20001+%28Rona ld+Reagan+Natl+Airport-Dca%29&daddr=38.878339,-77.031326&hl=en&geocode=FYzqUAIdcGZo-yHIWnP_gEen3w%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=14&sll=38.863103,-77.043428&sspn=0.046782,0.070982&ie=UTF8&ll=38.877849,-77.030525&spn=0.046773,0.070982&z=14)
there is a bike path the entire way and a tunnel from crystal city, where I assume you are, to the path. 2 miles total will take you 10mins and you will be warmed up already :) Go to Wmata (http://www.wmata.com/) to plan the public transportation. If you want to play in the spring I am 1.5 miles south of crystal city and have a group of guys from 30-45 that play singles and doubles prob in the range of 3.0 - 4.0 with an ex-high school player. Bike path takes you here too. Here is a google map of the courts in my area that will also be near you. dgoldman and Tnsguy25 - I work in Crystal City, maybe we could try to set up a hit indoors some time after work.

Both of you guys should join the TW Mid Atlantic Chapter. We have like 16 people, from college age all the way up to some older dudes. All the members meet up regularly and play, especially in the warmer months. One of the guys runs a drop-in tennis clinic on Sunday mornings at Skyline Sport and Health... probably a good way to get tuned up for the spring.

***EDIT***

Also, oneguy21 where do you live? I'm in Arlington.

I've been looking at the Mid Atlantic Chapter and it's probably because it's the middle of winter, but I've been reading random posts rather than anything like getting together and hitting.

Is the Arlington Y tennis club still around ? You can sign up for indoor clinics and it's pretty close to a metro station....

there is not a bus that takes you down there to haines. you have to walk a little bit. rock creek is better if you are taking the bus

Just pose the question yourself. Cut and paste this sentence if you need to.

"Hey everyone, I'm new and want to know if someone would like to play tennis with me?"

Someone will respond. Don't be shy. ;)
