Checkout the court Agassi and Federer played on top of in Dubai. Doesn't look real, like it's a special court on the Xbox or something!

Up In The Air In Dubai

Andre Agassi and Roger Federer took tennis to new heights on Tuesday, playing on a helipad almost 700 feet (211 meters) above Dubai on Tuesday.

That is incredible! That one pic is funny, Agassi is lying down looking over the edge and Federer is standing up trying to peek over, but he looks afraid to get any closer. Funny candid shots.

That's so scary!! How can you even walk without shaking? Don't they have to put up fences or something? What if you fall?

norcal's got it right - on your service games it's always S&V. If you're returning it's always chip and charge.

If your opponent can successfully lob behind you then he/she can have the match.

"... taking tennis to new heights" oh brother, hehe nice pun

I'd hate to be a ball boy for that match.

That is freaking awesome! Picture 11 is absolutely beautiful. That has to be the most amazing backdrop for a "tennis court" I've ever seen and I now have a new life goal: To be able to hit on top of that helipad.
I knew Andre and Roger were literally playing in another stratosphere, but that takes the cake. Wonder how high that ball that went over bounced?

I think being able to hit on the helipad would cost a LOT of money, but it might be worth it.

Yep, hit a lob and you win the point, who in their right mind would run towards the edge after being lobbed? It would seem as if you were running right off the platform, haha.

And what happens if you hit a ball out? Does it drop 700 feet in the ocean?

How much is it to book this court for couple of hours, anyone ready to split the fee?
Sign me in...! We'll do some mini court drills. On one pic Fed is serving and clearly has a foot fault. Never saw him doing it on real courts. I guess he wants to be closer to the center of the court....just in case!....

If you look at the pictures, you can see that there's a net. Which, judging by the picture in which Agassi is looking over the side, extends about 1 to 1.5 meters past the side, and is slightly raised too.

why were they playing there? It must be a promo of some kind - are there any video clips of this? Is it for some commercial? Just to promote the tournament?

That just looks awesome...

Whats even cooler is that they appear to be relatively alone. No judges or (visible)paparazzi. They must have gone through so many balls.

i see a bucket of ball next the the net, well, i guess they were just enjoying it... not even bothering winning points.

i second to the saying that i sweat just by thinking of playing there...

Some advice to Michael Chang should he decide to plan a comeback in Dubai next year...this is the one court where God will NOT reward you for going the extra mile...YOWSA, what a drop!

I don't think I'd be able to play up there, that's seriously scary and a safety concern.

Wow i would be so scared to go up there because i overran a lob I would be in the ocean. It looks cool though, and its a very nice view. Probably one of the best places to play tennis on, and its nice to see them just have a good time as mentioned above.

Actually there seems to be quite a bit of space on the sides, but not a lot behind them. They should have just hit with a lot of topsin so that they would be so far back when receiving them and they could see who would fall first. My money would be on Agassi falling first.

Dubai seems to take great pleasure in having any and all famous faces up on that helipad. Tiger Woods was photographed using it as a driving range a few weeks ago.

Not only that, Fed is using his n6.1 90 as if it's his third leg. Yeah, he is afraid. Andre, a man with a family is doing a right thing. Wind could be very strong too.

BTW, isn't it one of two 7-star hotels in the world? I saw it in 'Globe treckker' program KQED. Lovely Megan McCormick guides.

http://www.pilotguides.com/tv_shows/globe_trekker/shows/north_africa_and_the_middle_east/marrakesh_and_dubai.php

The most iconic building in the area has to be the Burj Al Arab. At 320 metres high, this self styled 7 star palace is the tallest hotel in the world. Sitting on its own island, the hotel has 1000 sq metres of gold leaf and is a temple to high-class kitsch. Each one of the 202 suites has its own butler too!

I saw the video of this (on the Dubai Webcast during rain delay). It was great stuff. It started out as Roger asking Andre how does he like this nice hotel. Andre says he loves it and especially the view, then Roger (near the entrance door to the hotel) tells Andre that there is a court on the top and if he wants to hit few balls. Andre is looking in amazement and agrees of course. They take the elevetor, Andre says his earls are popping... because of the fast altitude change. So they arrive there, the camera men was on the baseline as they exchange few rallies (warm up pace), then they go to the net to exchange some volleys... Fed hits shots between the legs and stuff.... finally they go the end of the court where there is a safety net and just fired few balls outta the court. They watched them fall down and both were scared to step outside the court..... really scared especially Roger.. At the end they shake hands..

I wonder if anyone is brave enough to jump into the safety net, and check out the view from in there for a few minutes and climb back out.

That would be AWESOME!
