Three executives and Gabe Jaramillo, NBTA Director of Junior Tennis, were let go yesterday and escorted off the compound by security personnel. Nick will now be "back in the trenches" working with all junior groups and not travelling as much. Chip Brooks is now Director of Junior Tennis. (as reported in Daily Tennis News and Zoo Tennis)
Anyone know the details or why they let long-time junior tennis director Jaramillo go? Just the economy taking its toll?

That's really interesting, I wonder what prompted that. Perhaps a fall in popularity or just more choice nowadays?

Had something to do with playing with fuzzy balls, I think.
Rickety Nickety back in the trenches?
And here I thought the only trenches for him would be shared with Yorick.

Very strange. We were there last weekend, everything seemed fine. Then we got a call yesterday from a student saying people were being escorted off the property. Be interesting to see what the rest of the story turns out to be.
At least Gabe lasted a LOT longer than any of Nick's 8 wives.

Maybe escorting them off is just a safety precaution. They do deal with kids.
I would never think that any of those professionals would do anything "that" wrong to kids or the sport. Hopefully it's some kind of big misunderstanding.

People often get escorted off the premises when they get let go, usually to keep them from taking anything of value with them.

Escorted off by security sounds really odd. Sounds like its serious, lol, when its only firing a coach.
I do agree, I think it may be something more. Otherwise it would be a more loose statement.

^^^ Yeah this is it. If it was just a change of management or similar then you would expect a different type of statement really.

I have heard that there has been a lot going on at IMG in the past year or so. Some changes were bound to be made as a result. It's odd to see much change there in terms of the core group of coaches though. People joke that you can go there as a kid and come back fifteen years later and the same pros are there!

Lol. Totally true. A little history of mine just got escorted off campus that day.
From what I read, its change of management. There has been a lot of competition for tennis academies, so I'm sure the stakes have been raised.

Garry Glitter is amongst the leavers aswell?

Doesn't surprise me - pretty standard for execs. The security there is really tight as well.

I was there 21 years ago and Gabe was already there, he was such a great guy at the time. So escorting him out??? To prevent him from taking something of value??? Come on guys, this guy if rich by now and he is part of the history of the accademy. I'm sure it's something else!!!!

I doubt it is anything personal against Gabe or sensational, that is kind of how things are done these days. The escorting out when someone leaves is really common in the States. Because of lawsuits and that kind of thing. As soon as the higher ups want a person gone, they usually make them sign a bunch of papers (usually non-disclosures about your severance package) and then security takes them away. It sounds more dramatic than it actually is. They've had redundancies at various places I've worked and that is what happens. It is almost as if the person never worked there.

I wonder too if his brother is still there? There is nothing on their website about that so maybe he is still there. If so that supports even more that it is probably IMG cutting costs.

family works there. there is much much more to the story than just letting them go. a lot of money is missing. shady business transactions and so on. this is the story going around with some employees. :?

It is common procedure nowadays. They are told to come back at a particular time to pick up their personal stuff. Or it is shipped to them. It sounds harsh and creates bad morale among the other employees, but sometimes it is justified. These days, employees can do a lot of cyber-damage if given even a little time. Wipe out data, steal data etc.
Also, some employees get very angry and could hurt others during that period.

^^^ For sure being escorted off is not that uncommon but the statement was just plain weird. It sounds to me like there's definitely more than meets the eye here.

They got fired for stilling the money from IMG. It was ring of three (or more).
It happened after independent auditor discovered that the the funds being disappeared and invested by three into a different entity.
That was I heard via email from one of the coaches there.

When someone gets "escorted out", it's usually just a power trip under the guise of security. It's the boss saying, "I'm upset and I have the power." If it truly had been a legal matter, then the cops would have done the escorting.

There's going to be a lot of rumours and speculation. Most likely the truth is something boring such as people getting paid too much and/or having too many people in non-revenue generating positions in a struggling economy.

What is mac Bollettieri?
MAC/Bollettieri is a club in Manchester,MA that is has some assosiation with the florida one. This is just a normal tennis club though, but they do have one of the stronger new england junior programs. The MAC stands for Manchester Athletic Club. Supposidly Nick actualy makes appearences at the club to but i doubt it.

That is slanderous stuff unless you can provide proof. Don't post accusations without proof.

Tennis coach FLA , I would not put too much stock into what old coach is saying, he spells "stilling" instead of stealing and couple of other rudimentary mistakes, so how much can we trust him?
