whats everyone think of Kei's chance in the AO? there is the obvious third round with Murray, however, I think that he deffintely has the chops to get to the third, and IDK maybe even fourth or quarters, if he has an extreme good day and murray has an extreme bad day? :p I'm rooting for him, anyone else?

I like him, not sure about his chances right now but there are interesting things about his game for sure.

I think the biggest question mark for him is his health. The season just started and he already has an injury. I'm a fan so I'd really be disappointed if I see another so and so def. Nishikori RET. :(

Yes. Nishikori being around can only be good for tennis, the kind of guy you really want to be healthy and 100%.

i say he gets to the quarters. he surprised ferrer in 5 at the us last year, time for him to take it to the next level this year. he'll flame out in the next round due to the "big win let down."

i can definately see murray-nishikori being this year's roddick-kohlschreiber.

Don't know why Nishikori is wasting his time with tennis. He should be preparing for the 2009 Comic-con Street Fighter IV tournament:

Hopefully Nishikori is actually OK and he was just being cautious with his retirement this week. If that is the case then I think he will get to the 3rd round.

Nishi's chances are affected by his over exposure in Japan. He is on the cover of every Tennis magazine (no joke) and constantly being talked about. Everybody in Japan in putting pressure on him to do well in a slam, whether they know it or not. He still got a lot to prove and the pressure is not helping. Defending a title is tough, but it is no better than a monkey on the back with no title.

That sucks. The Japanese culture has a tendency to do this. I hope he doesn't let it mess with him. Best of luck Kei.

Hes got a great great future, and I think he does pose a huge threat to murray in the third round were they will certainly meat, murray will need to be at his highest level and i think he will be eventually com9ing out on top although i would be surprised in nishikori didn't take a set or two

A third round against Murray would be great, but first he has to pass his first round against Melzer, not easy at all. Good Luck!

I like Kei a lot since watching him at a Futures in LR in 2007 against DY, but I think he will go out to Melzer first round as he might not be healthy right now.

I dont know, I'm thinking that the ret. was simply to make sure he was 100% for the AO. I think that the 3rd round match up with Murray is going to be very interesting, and I think he just might have the chops to beat him. At least, I'm rooting for him

If he makes it to the third and so assuming Murray does, Murray will take him down in straights or in 4.
