How does your high school team look this year?

ours is solid, we should go to state this year (only to be swallowed by an academy team)

I'm basically it for the high school... Looking to medal at state, but after me there is a HUGE drop-off... I'll have to hit with some of the guys on the college team in-town after practices if they don't mind... :(

Well, our anyone from our 2-4 could play 2 (especially my younger brother), but our number 5, not good.

We're looking solid, we added a 5, 4, and two 3 star recruits from Tennis Recruiting Network. I played number one last year and made All-Conference, top 10 -players in conference (in a strong conference) and I'll be playing number 5 this year. So i went from top 4 or 5 in the conference to top 4 or 5 on my own team.

My former team is looking like a crash and burn except for my main hitting partner (who SHOULD take 1st singles) and possibly, if he ever bothers to practice, the young'n could do well at 2nd.

I could see each of them having about even w/l records (i.e. like 10-10 each).

The team is in a decent district, so it's never easy.

And if they're the only two who can win, I predict a repeat of last year... perfect 0-21 record (1st and 2nd singles>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> rest of team... wasn't the best note to end on.)

We're f***ed royally come district time. We have a really good shot this year at getting the league title, because we're all hungry seniors who want to pull out the "big one" as a great goodbye.

Sounds like our situation... They should create a different class for private schools...

It would be for me, there are plenty of decent individuals in normal high school here (like me), but the private schools in our state actively "recruit" (of course, they don't come right out and say it...) and get absolutely stacked teams that no public high school could compete with (due to the depth).

That's our main competition, but Irvington looks pretty strong this year too. Hopefully we don't get smashed like we usually do. Maybe my joining the team will mean better season, but 3rd is almost assured.

basically let me tell you this:

my coach is an @$$hole.
he felt sorry for some players and let them on the team.
sad to say we were in the top 10 last year, and this year is probably our worst season ever.
i mean, i still have respect for him, and i learn more and more from him everyday, but i dont think he should have let those girls on the team.
i dont even think they're 2.0s -_-

I heard American HS doesn't have a coach. Could anyone from
the Fremont area clarify that?
Is Bill Patton's son playing for MSJ or CV? Or maybe another HS?
Does the Fremont Tennis Center have indoor courts and/or outdoor courts? And is there a fee?
Do you think Alameda HS will be strong this year? Would Monte Carlo take NCS again?
[General Question]:What is the #1 team in your league?
We'll work one game at a time and see how the league season would turn out. Hopefully, we would do well enough to reach playoffs.

Probably even though they lost 2 key players and I think you mean Monte Vista.

Right now its Moreau Catholic, but CV seems pretty strong as well as Arroyo.

btw what league are you in?

Yeah, thanks for correcting me. I wasn't sure about the ending of Monte [Vista]. I heard Mark de Castro is dominant in his league. I may not be right, but correct me if I'm wrong. It seems that MC still has Derek Lloyd and Derek Lee also. Does MC have any other player around that level? Since Bill Patton's son is playing for CV, how do you think it would work out if MSJ and CV were to meet in NCS?

Yes Mark dominant last year and Derek Lloyd and Lee are juniors now. MC lost one key player in there singles last year so their #4 spot is going to look blank. I think MSJ would win even though CV is a strong team I still think MSJ is alittle stronger. If they were to play it would be a good match.

No its because Bill is from CV and I don't think he'd want to drive all the way to fremont, then back to cv then back to fremont for practice. No we never got to play MSJ, to be honest they would kill us, unless we stack our singles players.

My team was solid and we ended up coming in 8 in the state or something like that. I know we were top ten. I got all the way to the quarterfinals but I ended up losing to the #1 seed in 4 singles. I lost the match 6-0, 7-5. The first set was closer than the score makes it and we went to a lot of deuces and in the second I was up 5-4 and serving but I guess I could not pull it off yet. I played well and so did he and apparently he was the better player that day. Period (no excuses).

Yeah, I can imagine it too. I've been putting in tons of miles and balls over the winter break and I hope it's about to pay off. Somewhere along the line I lost my edge and let some people get ahead of me so I'm not even Varsity ANYMORE. Hopefully I'll be playing a match against our #7 and get it back to where I need to be.

Honestly, I'm hoping to play 1-singles this year. I'm way too hungry to have any other goals.
