So, my kid has signed. Now what? he just wants to train, train, train. He doesn't care about the who/how & title of the tournament so long as it's good competition.

So choices are USTA jrs, ITF juniors, men's futures. (yes, he's 18 all year long in 2009)

Figuring out a schedule is going to put me into an early grave!

Are the rules in ITF that much different than USTA? What's ATP & where does it fit in?

The way I look at it, it's all about getting better & points or rankings are just icing or good for stroking the ego. (Whatever!)

I think he should do some ITF jrs still, along with the USTA SNs & a bit of futures, if possible. ???

Any thoughts on a schedule & differences between the rules in each system?

If your son is already signed for College I would suggest playing the ITF futures and Challenger Qualies when possible.
If you son is good enough maybe one last round at the Zoo for a WC chance, but the competition in futures will better prepare him for the College Game.

Instead of guessing, I would talk to his prospective college coach. Your son will be his responsibility next fall and presumably for the next 4 years, I am sure he will tell you what would be the best direction for your son between now and when he starts college.

And why not the ITF juniors?
