I was watching the djokovic match yesterday against stoppini). I've always wondered how some of the serbs (djokovic, jankovic) can slide on hard courts w/o twisting their ankle.

Any thoughts

Blake is another one that does this from time to time. I have no idea how their joints stay together...mine would explode.

Oh, and don't forget to throw Monfils in there as well...

Not their shoes alone--I can't do it any of my Barricades....

of course you have to be able to run fast and have great joints. You dont think about doing this, it happens naturally.

That is his style of play. Djokovic kissed the ground several times at Wimbledon because of his sliding but he never got seriously injured because of that.

its not about speed, anyone can do it you just have to learn how. its just like how you have to learn how to slide on clay. i used to always slide on hard, but i went through so many shoes that i made myself stop.

speed is part of it. If you not fast enough, you wont slide much on hard courts.

it's due to the special sliding technology on the bottom of their shoe which allows them to slide when they make a hard turn
