If Andy Roddick would hit a serve with an upward angle[open racket face] at 140mph would his serve go over a fence that is 21 feet behind the baseline.
Let's see.... thinking and typing here...
Andy is what, 6'1" or so? So he can reach up flatfooted maybe 7'9"?
His racket extends his reach some 22", he jumps a bit, maybe 1' if he's fresh.
So, open faced serve, assuming as flat as he can hit it but with some slice. He hits slightly downwards, and he'd probably get in 3 out of 10 ABOUT, up the middle, over 36" of net, if he keeps clearance within 6".
All speculation of course, but he WILL get in a small percentage hitting backspin first serves.
I suspect he'd rather hit a dead ball first serve, clear the net an average of over 1', and get 7 out of 10 in the service court.
And some of you will chide me for using specific #'s, just for spite and fun.:shock:
