I actually need a racket, but I kinda find it hard when my dad goes:

'Why on earth do you need a NEW racket?'

Hmm, I have a dunlop aerogel 300 and 200, and I've gotten about 4 rackets in the last 3 years.

But, to be honest, I only got the 300 cos I saw it in SportsWorld for £32, hahaah :)

why exactly do you need a new racket if you have the ag 200 and ag300

Cos to be honest I don't like them and I wanna get a vantage with my exact specs, so I have nothing to complain about.

Screw you rich kids, I have to pay for my own stuff. I am not going to say I am not jealous, because I am, but come on. I am ok at tennis, but, if I would have had the opportunity to start as early as some of you guys, I would be so much better. I started my freshman year in high school and only could play for half of the year because the other half is too cold and snow covered in Wisconsin. I cant afford the country club memborship. I still can hang with some of the states better players and win a couple games, (I still get beat). I even ace some of them, consistantly, once or twice a game. Man, what could have been.

Ben, in my whole life the only racket my parents have bought me one racket..I've paid for the others through work during the summer. I'm talking about ME having the money but my parents still not letting me buy one.

Years back, when Max was young, his parents bought him a racquet for high school tennis. It was a surprise and a nice thing to get. That's the racquet I used for three years.

Part time work for teens is easy to find. Just ask around. Plenty of chores to do, lawns to mow, etc., and a few of these and you can buy whatever racquet your heart desires. It's a nice system, builds up your manliness and keeps you from whining, childlike, at your parents.

Try starting as an adult in your 30s and playing against people who have been playing since they were 5.:)

If you don't even have to rackets of the same kind do you feel you should really be worried about a racket having you EXACT specs??? Why don't you try to just find a racket that you like. I think Vantage customs are expensive. If you are not really going to benefit from those EXACT specs then it isnt worth it. Now I don't know how good you are but it is the same thing with beginners using Luxilon compared to using synthetic gut. Unless you are at a certain level then it is a waste of money. Please don't take offense to this, just understand where I'm coming from.

For what it's worth my son has a fair bit of money swilling around because of generous friends of mine etc. When I told him he had to pay for his own sticks a gasp of horror escaped his lips.

However I can safely say that I have done the same thing as robertg06 and went to Sportsworld where my son got 2 AG500 Tours for £32 each (and I got 4 AG300s for £32 each too).

Still in the stores for £32, but they have always been £70 online.

I know a couple more shops who have some stock in, but I can't justify any more purchases to the missus!

oooh, that's wrong man...hehehe you will be punished for that. Oh well, your hilarious jokes on the joke thread redeems you.

As for an excuse the OP can use, you can tell your parents that you have progressed in your playing level, and at this point, your current racquets are no longer suitable. Tell them you want a racquet that you can use for long term and that you want to protect yourself from developing "tennis elbow" down the road.

Do you know which string pattern? AFAIK it was only the 16x19 which was for £32.

By the way, I wouldn't pay £38 for a dampener and cover...

Go to the SD website, do a search on local stores and trawl around. There are still quite a few out there for £32.
