this has never happend to me (thankfully!) but i'v heard a story about where it happend to somebody. your playing a match, and you break the strings on all of your racquets. is there a way to repair them makeshift or do u play with the one that you have with the broken string. this is in a sitaution where your not at a club to demo a racuet that the club owns. any thoughts?

Happened to my friend in the summer. He broke his 3 k-blades strings, then ended up demoing one from the pro shop. Broke the one from the pro shop then borrowed one from a random person watching the match, and broke that too! But played with one of his broken ones in the end and won the match in the third set!

Just borrow a racket from a friend or your opponent. If you can't, for some reason, just play with broken strings...

My coach said this happened to him once and he had to barrow one from his opponent.

This happened to my son once, in the 14s. He tied a knot in each end & kept playing with it for about 20 minutes. He won the set, then his dad showed up with a freshly strung rqt.

If that happened to my opponent I would have to politely disacquiesce ;-)

I'm a string breaker and don't need any more wear and tear on my strings because my opponent is unprepared. I used to carry around an old racket that had Prince Pro Blend kevlar strings with string savers that I would loan to opponents. It is very difficult to break those strings and I don't use the racket anymore. I recently bought a smaller tennis bag, so I had to get rid of the old racket. My opponents are on their own now if they break all their strings

"I just wrecked my car last night, and then this morning I wrecked my wife's car, and at lunch I wrecked my brother's car. Can I borrow your car for the rest of the day?"

Sorry, no lending under those circumstances. :)

It's a good deed to lend your opponent a racket in these circumstances. However, if they are a compulsive string breaker it's understandable not to lend them a racket. I would, but I couldn't live with myself if I denied them the chance to play, it's only a game to me.

Carry one of those Sponge Bob racquets from K-Mart, or an old woodie to lend out to your opponent. If they end up beating you, then you don't deserve to be playing tennis;)

Happened to me, too.

I broke strings in two of my sticks ... and cracked the throat in my 3rd (on a standard rally FH). I do NOT abuse my equipment.

My opponent graciously let me use his spare. I broke the strings in HIS racquet within three games.

[The single-most "destructive" day I've ever had.] A friend on a nearby court let me use *his* spare to finish the match.

Ugh!!!

The odds of this happening ever again are so slim, I still carry only three frames in my bag. (Jo11y would say I'm nuts. Okay....) The strangest part of this is ... I am NOT a "string breaker." (Really!)

For the longest time after that I carried an X-45 in my bag ... in case any opponents needed MY spare. (This particular X-45 is a *club* of a stick. Nobody who has used it like it.)

Don't mean to doubt you...but there is no way that a person wins a match with broken strings if he is playing more than a few points. You would have no control over the ball...so unless he was playing a poodle or a bar of soap, that could not have happened.

Now if he tied off the strings or did something like that, he would have some kind of chance...but broken strings just hanging out, no way.

i used to be very cheap about strings

if they broke during a jtl match i would continue to play with the broken strings(if i didnt have a spare)

Just borrow a racket from a friend or your opponent. If you can't, for some reason, just play with broken strings...

Did all of the above. During a league match I broke my strings and the got a backup I threw in there the day before, broke those strings since they were different and it wasn't the same racket either. Borrowed one from a friend, but ti wasn't the same and I just played with the one with a broken string. We still lost though.
