Hi, would like to ask Prestige experts which version of the prestige is this; I recently bought this off a friend. He himself has no idea other than he got it from the bay.
Any light you can shed would be most appreciated. Thanks!

(Apologies, see post #7 below, thanks!)

this is the invisible version, they are so light you can't feel or see them. I know where to get some made in Austria ones....midsize, constant beam!!! could even throw in a real visible cover so it doesn't get lost!!!

OK, guys, hope these links work this time. Otherwise I really need a computer tutorial!

This is the Prestige Classic. I have a brand new one thanks to my good friend Bob. It is just like a Prestige Tour, except the Prestige Tour has a suspension grip for shock absorbtion...

Thanks for the info Plasma; I wonder- is this the version that TW did a limited run, these being designed in Austria and made in Czech Republic? Or is it an older model?
On a side note, I've just hit with this stick and I must say the feel is second to none. (Perhaps the PS 6.0 85 and the K90 "feel" might be a little bit similar). Unfortunately the sweetspot is quite small, and off centre shots aren't that forgiving. Plus the string set up was too tight IMO (mix of poly and syn gut at 58 pounds). Will probably have to restring it for a slightly better feel I think. Overall the recommendation from TT posters to try out this old school racket was spot on. Thanks guys!

No, the version that TW had in a limited run around 2004-2006 is the Prestige Classic 600. Many posters have valuable knowledge of Head racquets and can help you with the history of the Prestige models.
Concerning the strings, it is a tight string pattern and you need to find the string and tension that fits you to really enjoy the racquet. IMO, the prestige mid frames perform better at mid to low tension.

That is a U.S. Market Prestige Classic from about 1997-1998. In Europe the Prestige Classic was sold as the Prestige Classic 600. The 600=600cm2 head size.
Your racquet was manufactured in Austria.

The racquet throat says: designed in Austria, which means that the frame itself was molded in Austria and the paint and handle were put on in Czech Republic.

I have exactly the same version as yours. The TW rerun just had Classic mid on the frame, though the frame itself was exactly the same. It was due to a legal dispute with Wilson over the name Prestige.

The European version of this frame of yours says PC 600 instead of mid.

It's a great racquet, I have enjoyed mine tremendously. It hits a nasty serve and is outstanding from all areas of court: be it b-line or net.

It is not the most easy racquet to play with though, it has a very distinct and unique feel. The sweetspot is higher on the frame than, say, the Pro Staff line from Wilson and there are some hot spots you need to find. B

But when you do, you will love the frame.

It was still manufactured in Austria. Where the paint, pallets, grip, and grommets were applied does not effect the way it plays.

Originally the Classic Mid was sold in the U.S. from 1999-2000 when HEAD lost the rights to the Prestige name in the U.S. to Wilson. In 2001 the Prestige name returned to the U.S. with the i.Prestige.

TW had Classic Mids in 2001 and 2002. Later I can't remember the exact year TW sold the Prestige Classic 600 and agian sold the Prestige Classic 600 in 2006.

I love your passionate argument about Czech-shopped Austrian Racquets, I wonder if Czechs feel slighted...????

vsbabolat- when TW started selling the "PC 600" in say 2004, 2005 and 2006, did they call it "classic mid" or "Prestige classic 600"?

question of taste, some people like trek font, trek font is soft, some red have trek font too. in photo only solid "600" is trek font, hollow "600" empty "600" is no trek font 600! I show you now, please:
http://i39.tinypic.com/2hn6nly.jpg
this red has no trek font and has hollow 600 font
http://i40.tinypic.com/iqxbbd.jpg
trek letter- style or trek "font" is named after famous USA tv show with overacting Captain James Kirk, which resembles the early typeface used on the Austrian heads....
