There's something about their style of backhand that intrigues and baffles me.

Their backhands were strong-hand dominant and both would release their weak hand shortly after contact. I'm curious to see if such a backhand style would be feasible in today's era. I don't think it would, unless it's on a slow surface. But what do I know?

I"m sure it would "work" in today's pro game.
Whether it would be "better" than today's backhands, only guesstimate and soothsaying would ever have an idea.
Just can't compare older players strokes with those today.

Mikhail Youzhny hits a similar shot sometimes.

If it works for you, use it! Forget about all the rules, experience on the court and if it works put it to use in matches! You'll sure take by surprise your opponents. And the most important thing in tennis is to pass the ball over the net in the other man's court.
