Hello, i have been researching the last few days and i have been thinking about stringing my stick with blue gear in the mains and a string like Xcel in the crosses around 60 lbs. I have an all-court game and have been playing with the pro hurricane tour, Xcel hybrid for the last couple of months. My main questions is, how would that hybrid match up with my Hurricane Pro, Xcel hyrbid? Thank You.

Well I played with Hurricane/Excel several times in my Babolat pure drive last summer, and I just had my radical strung with Blue Gear 17 mains and Titan 16 crosses both @64. I will most likely be playing tomorrow morning, so I'll come back and let you know.

How it would match up based on your style of play. IMO if you like hitting hugh spin from the backcourt there is nothing like BG. You do loose feel at the net which is where PHT would be better.

Thank you all for your responses, all have been a big help!

I agree with this. PHT with xcel felt a lot better at net. I know regret putting the blue gear at such a high tension because my arm started hurting today. Maybe it'll soften up though.

i've used PHT/psgd both 16G at 64/63. really good combo. great control. and i currently use BG/gosen micro both 16G 64/63 a bit softer and low powered. i honestly thought PHT played a lot better, but i had more spin with BG
btw PHT is stiff than BG.

I love Blue Gear with X-1 Biphase. Both 17g.

I love Blue Gear with X-1 Biphase. Both 17g.The 17/1.25 version of BG is good, I prefer the 1.28.

I can't A your Q directly, but my experience of Blue Gear is it creates an almost ludicrously huge floating, weaving kind of spin... just extraordinary!

Is the 1.28 much stiff than the 1.25?

I played with 1.25 for about 40 hours, the best setup I've tried so far. Somewhere around 20 it started losing it's bite, would the 1.28 bite longer?

ive just put a full bed at 50lbs (1.28mm) in a k90, taking it out for a hit tonight.. will see how it plays.. have never used blue gear before, i guess it was a smart thing stringing at a lower tension..

I usually use a hybrid setup (BA/maxim touch), but wanted to give a full poly job a try as i got a free set of the blue gear

I had kind of mixed feelings for Blue Gear. I felt that it gave incredible topspin to all my shots, but I couldn't generate the pace or speed I normally do. It felt like the strings were grabbing on to the ball for too long, leaving my shots a bit slower. As for my serves, they had some good action to them. The kick on my serves were noticeable, and my slice was also pretty nice. If I was going to use BG again, I would hybrid it.
