I've recently strung my K95 18x20 with Cyber flash mains at 55 and OG sheep micro crosses at 58 and it feels really underpowered and dead. As a result, I'm thinking about using full 17-gauge Big Ace as I've had good success with that setup. However, I'm also wondering whether I should give the x-1 biphase or nrg2 a try as I've heard many good comments about it.

By the way, my playing style is generally baseline with occasional netplay and I don't hit heavy topspin.

Cheers

My experience is that X-One and NRG2 are both excellent multi's. I found X-One to be more powerful than NRG2.

Take care.

My friend X- one is the one best multi's out there. So soft good ball pocketing,Decent power and feel like no other. It tends to fray a bit and moves around occasionally but for the four or five sessions you get out of it it's priceless.I'm currently searching around for some soft multi's that are a little cheaper but similar characteristics.String your sticks with X-one you should love it.

Enjoy

X-1 and nrg2 are the two best multis you can find, period. X-1 I rate a tad bit higher but both are outstanding.

Another vote here for X-1. My string of choice and I have dumped poly completely since coming across this string. If you are not a chronic string breaker, the 17 gives great bite and feel.

I vote for NRG2, although it frays quite easily it is comfy and packs good amount of controllable power.

For the inexpensive ones, TF multifeel and Babolat Addiction has been really good in full jobs or hybrids.

A full bed of BA 17g is not going to add that much power unless you string it really loose. Yes, X-1 will add some pop to the string-bed.

I would go BA at 52-53 and X-1 at 56-57. It should feel a lot better and have plenty of zip.

Thanks guys (and girls), I'll try the tecnifibre string. By the way, how much does it generally cost in the US for stringing labour? It costs 14 USD here.

Kirschbaum Touch Multifibre is the best all-round string that I have ever used. I just finished a reel of it in 17g. Crisp yet comfortable, good spin and stays playable till it breaks. I love it in the mains with a good poly or syn gut in the crosses.

Multis make good practice strings.

Try natural gut. Even a cheap one will far outperform the best multis. You can reduce the cost of gut by stringing the crosses with a multi (or a mono). In a racquet like yours, once you try gut, you won't go back.

I use multi in my two wet weather racquets - Nat gut won't last long in wet weather, so always have a string that will last in wet weather.

I prefer Babolat VS nat gut in all my racquets, at least in the mains - but I often play in wet weather conditions, and then I take out my two Babolat PST's with multi in them:

Favorite multi's for me are:

1. Babolat Xcel Power '08
2. Laserfibre Super Natural Gut Prostock
3. Tecnifibre X-one BiPhase

^^ ClubHoUno, can you compare these three multis for us, please? (Particular strengths of each one, tradeoffs, etc.)

I tried the Laserfibre recently and was very impressed with its gut-like properties (pocketing, liveliness, feel/touch). Have not tried the other two.

Thanks.

2. Laserfibre Super Natural Gut Prostock

How come TW has no Laserfibre any more?
