Why is the head classic so expensive? And why don't they start manufactering thm on tenniswarehouse again?

I mean they have alot of other old raquets like the POG and the PS 85

I picked up a new prestige pro 4 5/8 plastic on the handle and all of that for 79.99 recently you can find them here and there sometimes at pro shops. TW always said it was a limited "run" even in the product description. Maybe one day.....

how many people here would buy a head prestige classic if they made another run?

Pushmaster
03-01-2005, 03:44 PM
I'd buy 6 of them, maybe not all at the same time because I'm not made of money, but two at a time until I have 6 total.

Is TW listening!?!

I would buy some if there was another run. I like the frame but due to short supply I dont use them.

It'd stock up at least 3 if they came around again. So sick of trying to find used ones online.

when TW offered the prestige they just announced it rather abruptly. They evidently read these "boards" and I have not seen a company so customer focused like them; just got to wait and see. I'm leaning more and more to the way Deuce obtains his frames; just "hunt" them down . Thats what I'm doing . I've had it with nonsense racket companies are putting in front of us. i got lucky with the prestiges I found it can can happen again not only to me, but to you guys as well. Just keep your eyes peeled.

Yep, that's the way it's done for now, but you need a little luck along the way. I posted one of those "Wanted: Prestige Classic 600" threads on TW two weeks ago, and just the other day a guy emailed me saying he had 2 near mint Prestige Tour 300's (even better than the PC IMHO). $120 for both, one of them was never even strung yet! Now if I could only get my hands on 2 more.... So until the supply meets the demand, happy hunting!

Maybe if we started a petition showing guaranteed demand for the prestige classic TW would consider bringing it back.

i dont think its tw's call on that. if they dont get them from head, regardless of if head actually does a production run currently, then they cant sell htem. i do wish tw could ask ever so nicely, for a few hundred to get sent our way. im sure we'd all be ever so pleased if that occured. how much do you guys think they'd sell for, 159? 179? 199?

I would guess $179 because of the demand, and bet they would be sold out fast even at $199. Worth every penny when you consider what else is out there these days.

is the LM Prestige THAT different?... I hear theres not a lot in it... bit stiffer in the upper hoop.

Pushmaster
03-02-2005, 04:20 AM
I demoed the LM Prestige mid, a very good stick in it's own right, but couldn't hold a candle to the Prestige Tour/Classic in terms of feel. The LM felt stiff and sluggish in comparison.

I don't think Head will send any more out because they directly compete with their new versions. Why would someone buy the old Prestige when the Liquidmetal is supposedly just an improved version of it? Having hit with both versions, I can say that the Liquidmetal hits very differently (not in a good way) and doesn't have the orgasm-inducing feel of the Classic. However, Head's marketing group probably doesn't care. (If TW did get some in, I'd buy as many as I could afford ;) )

I bought 6 of them directly from TW and have picked up another 6 on the after market. If they did another run I'd probably pick up another 10-12 so I never have to change rackets again. Yes they are that good.

Kirko
03-02-2005, 02:08 PM
even if Head agreed to make some more it would be awhile. I remember when TW did it last time it was very slow in getting here {U.S.} , Head is noted for being slow and "their rules" where I get my rackets strung the owner said the samething about delivery from Head even in the U.S.

Hey how could i start a petition to get this raquet back to tennis warehouse?
I'll do it if someone can show me how even if it probably won't help anything. I think it would still be cool to see how many people want these sticks.

I think it's a good idea because it would send a message to retailers that at least some people are sick and tired of these manufacturers trying to force feed junk down our throats.

If you are really serious about making a petition, the people to contact are the people from Head and not TW(because from what I can tell TW wants to sell them). The names of the people responsable for taking the Prestige Classic away from us at Head NV are: Mr. Johan Eliasch CEO Head NV and Mr.Robert Marte Vice President Racket sports. The adress for these Gentlemen are:
Head Sport AG
Wuhrkopfweg 1
A-6921 Kennelbach
Austria
I got this information off of Head's own web site.

i actually emailed head on the subject inquiring how could someone get a hold on the classic version, and they didn't even care to give me a response.

Each and every time I care less about racquet companies.

I would buy 4 of them instantly. More if I could afford...

Orgasm indeed... especially when strung with 18g natural gut :D

...I should have spoken sooner...

Head just replied to me after 2 weeks of waiting.

They found through their portuguese representative a store here that still had a
Classic 600 for sale. the price? A whooping 169 promotion form the 199 base price.

If I will buy it? Already did! And it was even a grip size lower than mine!

If you want to really get your "freak" on, try the Prestige Tour 300 instead. More "intense" if you know what I mean.

I'm willing to say I'd buy them, if it'll help get them in.

I wouldn't actually purchase any when they finally arrived, but I like to do what I can to create the image of demand. Sort of like with the Prince Longbody.

I know what you talking about Twaron. Its there same "lay up" of materials. the're brand new and for a little extra you get a spare C.A.P. bumper guard . I have used this frame since 1988 buy with confidence.

I know I may a lone decenter ...... but I played with the older Head classic back when they were popular. It's a nice frame in many ways. However, I think the newer Heads play better. The Head classics and 600's lacked a stiff enough hoop and when you missed the sweet-spot ... they were terrible. The flex was very noticiable ..... seems to flex along the entire shaft and throat .... hence the feel everyone talks about. Don't take this wrong ..... great frame .... one the best ...... but measured next todays head frames ....... to say there better ...... I don't think so ...IMHO. I prefer the LM to the classic if you want that older feel and flex. For me .... i Prestige mid .... my fav. For the die-hards ..... go for it!

Yep, my Prestige Tour's are pretty sweet when you hit the sweetspot, but deader than hell off center. Thinking about trying the i. Prestige, because from what I've read it seems to be a more responsive frame. Any comparison to the PT/PC? ? About the only thing I've heard is the i. is stiffer w/ more "pop".

03-16-2005, 05:36 PM
The only prestige I have played with was the i-prestige...and it was great!!!!but with all the talk re: PC, I must say that I would buy at least 3 without even trying them...that's if they were to become available again.

Kirko
03-16-2005, 05:42 PM
The prestige is more "friendly" it flexs more the sweet spot is beguiling bigger than it appears. The pro-staff you menton is great & you could not go wrong in chosing it, but it is very stiff even in the present time . The prestige reminds me of a kramer auto. "wood" except it so forgiving . Think about it no body is clamoring for the staff 85.

I've got three Head Classics for sale... Two of them are in 4 3/8 (L3) grip and the other one is in a 4 1/2 (L4) grip size. All three are in great condition. Email me at longp@hotmail.com if any of you guys are interested.

The PC has a bigger sweetspot than the PS 85. The PC is also more flexible. The PC weighs a little less than the PS 85. The power levels are pretty similar. I personally prefer the PS 85 over the the PC. The PS 85 plays better at the net and I personally think groundstrokes feel better with the PS 85. The PS 85 is definitely more demanding, but it's well worth it if you can handle it. To me, the PC is just another hyped up racquet on this board.

I traded my PS 6.0 85 for a MW 200g, but I do miss that little sucker. I'm going to get another 85, hits alot more solid than my PT's. Although my Tour's are alot more comfortable and easier on the arm.

I would buy enough to last me for years; probably 5 or 6, as long as they were the real deal-the same PC's that Head made in the 90's.

How does Head Classic Midplus compare with Head (Prestige) classic mid? PC600 or classic mid seems much more popular than midplus (PC660). Especially 'feel' wise. I found PC600 offers amazingly good feel.
