At this point in time if you were to make a guess, what do you think will be the highest ranking Donald Young will ever reach. Note this isnt what his ranking on average will be, or even where he will be able to spend a fair a significant amount of time. This is what you think the highest point he will ever reach, no matter how briefly, will be.

Top 50, but not top 30 will be his highest ever ranking IMO. He will spend most of his carer outside the top 100 though.

If his parents shut up and let him get a real coach, he'll always hover between the mid 20's and 30's, and maybe get a seed at a few majors. But won't crack the top 10. He's got the talent to be a dark horse at any tournament, or a dangerous floater at a bigger tournament or slam. Maybe top out at 15th or so in the world in 5 or so years. Nothing higher though. If his parents keep a hold on him, he won't break the top 50 on a consistent basis. Might top out at 45 or so for a short time. He'll float around the 70s-90s.

He's reached his highest, IMO.

Well it looks like I have been the most generous so far, LOL! I keep hoping he will get some proper coaching and get his act together someday. Definitely not ever real top player material IMO, but I figured he might eke into the top 20 very briefly as a career best.

He's reached his highest, IMO.

It is hard to believe a player reaching their highest ranking at only 18 but you know the way he is going now it isnt impossible.

Probably #47. That is my random guess, something like that.

top 50 at some point in time, even with Mom & Pop.
Maybe reach top 20, if he could let go of
Mom & Pop and afford to hire a quality coach that worked well with him.

He and his family are head cases and he has already done all he is gonna. I agree this should be about trains.

Who is Donald Young?

Right now, he's moving in the wrong direction. There is a chance he will never ascend again - the pro tour is that competitive.

But, like many others, he is talented and even at lower levels, players start winning, gain some confidence, and have a couple of good runs and that's all it takes to get their ranking back up. I still have hope that this could happen for DY. That said, I see him topping out in the Top 50, if he indeed does get going in the right direction again (which is far from certain).
