I have notice when I go up for a strong smash during a lob occasionally Ill due some sort of Slice Smash or Twist Smash, Im just wondering if this is caused by trying to put to much power into it and losing control of my wrist...?
I actually like the shot and would like to be able to do it more often...Does this happen to any of you?... Any thoughts on this?

sometimes when i frame the ball it goes funny and i actually like watching it spin in all sorts of direction. i would love to hit it more since it seems so effective.

You are probably taking the racquet back too much. Your smash is not like a serve (no Backscratch!); instead, on the overhead, you take the raquet overhead and hit at the ball downward. If you are hitting slice/kick, you are hitting late/to the side.

yeah I was thinkin I was goin back to much with it...
OK, basic lesson for overhead putaways ....
First option is to hit flat and hard, meaning like a first flat serve. Usually hit to right side of court if you are right handed.
To hit overheads to left side of court, employ regular SLICE on the overheaad.
That means, TWO basic directions on your overheads, KISS.
Do NOT employ twist or topspins, like your serves, because if you do, you are hitting upwards at a downward moving ball you did not toss, so your margin for error is high, and you'll shank lots of putaway overheads.
You only need 2 options on overheads to put the ball away for a winner.
Once you get great, you can employ short flat angles, hard angled slices, and whatever, but KISS.
