I understand there is debate as to whether double bend is more effective or straight arm is more effective.
With that debate put aside for a minute, what is one-handed backhand's equivalent to the forehand's double bend?
Double-bend really works well for me, because I feel I can accelerate more with a double bend.
I've watched a lot of instructional/actual video clips of 1HBH, but all good 1HBH are hit with very straight hitting arm.
If so, what mechanism of 1HBH can deliver the power/acceleration of forehand's double bend?

I don't think there is a lot of magic you can look for in backhand technique. There just aren't as many options on that side. The shoulder prep and rearward swing of the arm with a contact position well in front of the body are pretty much the things you want to see. Other than that, let 'er rip.

getting into the position where the racquet is almost parrallel to the baseline as you are starting to come foward is an important position because it means you have coiled correctly and when you come foward you can release all that stored energy. the 1hbh is a straight arm shot unless you want to get tennis elbow!!!!

No offense ND, but the double bend 1HBH is poor technique, and I advise that you correct it as soon as possible. You even said so yourself when you said "All good 1HBH are hit with a straight arm". I'd go with that.

It looks like pretty soon people will say "all good forehands are hit with a straight arm".

Well, it certainly feels better to me to hit my forehand with a straight arm. I'm modeling mine after Verdasco. But as said by many, the forehand is simply a different stroke. A double bend is absolutely fine, just ask Novak.

Or Gonzo, who has arguably the best forehand in the game.

To me, the option is the hard slice! Slightly bent elbows on slices can work OK, straight can work great too.
