View Full Version : New racket suggestions

Hey, right now I currently use the APDC and I love it. But, I want a new racket that's heavier-just around the 12 oz. area and with more control. I'm looking at the 95 in. head size range. I was considering demoing the K6.1 95 and the KBlade. Any other rackets with similar weight and control specs I should try out? Thanks.

Babolat Pure Storm Ltd., Dunlop Aerogel 200 (18x20 and 16x19), Prince EXO3 Rebel to name a few.

kblade is not as described by you, demo it though, i like it alot. k6.1 95 prob be for you. 18x20 version for control and 16x18 for topspin. anyway, k6.1 doesnt feel like a 12 ounce racket, feels light, but is still a solid racket.

Oh yea the PSL. totally forgot about that. I know my racket club has the K6.1 95 and the Kblade. I'll probably have to demo the PSL from TW.

I think you should take a look at the Pure Storm Tour.

I have no idea what will work for you, but I added a bunch of weight to my APDC (all in the handle) and found my control much improved. You may not get similar results, but you have a racquet you like, except for weight and control. The weight is changed quite easily, and it is quite possible it could also help you with your control issues. I'd experiment extensively with different weight configurations before abandoning something you really like for something totally new. At worst, you'll develop a good idea how much extra weight you're looking for (and where; i.e. what balance), which will help you focus your search if you still want a new racquet.

I'm going to try the weights out. But I have a question about the KBlade's headsize. Is the 93 in. closer to 90 in. or 95 in..

The K-Blade's head size is between a 90 and a 95 sq. in. head size so I'd say that it's a hybrid of both. :) The shape however is slightly different from many other rackets within the same head size range since it's a 93. To me, it looks somewhat oval in shape.

The K-Blade is amazing. :)

The extra flex will give you quite a big increase in control without you having to drop your headsize too much (and it does have a surprisingly large sweetspot.) The newer Volkls may acheive a similar effect, but I've never tried them.

The Volkls are nice, and you might look at the specs for Dunlop, you may find something there that you would like.

I found no difficulty hitting with the KBT. It's a beast for serves IMO.

Looks like I'm going to have to hit up the demo program from TW ASAP. lol.

How's the KBlade and the Pure Storm Limited compared to each other? Similar?

03-19-2009, 05:48 PM
The general consensus I hear is that the KBT is a little more stiff than the PSL.

03-19-2009, 09:02 PM
the k95 is really stiff especially if you use a stiff poly, but the control and power are both there.

I can generate my own power. I found that the apdc had a little too much power and sometimes the shots were going long. So i want to try something with more control and less power-or lower flex. I'll be getting my demos from TW soon, so I'll be testing out the kblade and psl.

i've heard that Tech vO2 320 plays somewhat similar to APDC..but in a slightly heavier package.. can anyone confirm that?? (we dont get that in Aust)...maybe u could give that a try
