A 16x18 and 16x19 string pattern? Besides the fact that the 16x19 has more spin potential, are there any other notable differences?

I believe there is not much difference, maybe more spin for a more open string pattern. 16x19 might have more control....maybe not. I think it has something to do with head size.

most of the spin comes from your strokes so i wouldn't really worry bout string pattern for that. even if it did have a substantial effect i believe 16 x 18 would have more spin since 16 x 19 would be denser.

antgun is also right. the head size matters because of the spacing. some oversize 16 x 19 will have more space between strings vs. a pog mid that has 14 x 18.

ok, thank you to both of you.
I'm mainly comparing the Prince O3 White (100 si, 16x19), Dunlop Aerogel 4D 300 (98 si, 16x19), and Dunlop Aerogel 4D 500 Tour (100 si, 16x18).
It just seems as if I hit better with 16x19 patterns but the 300 is a bit light for me (O3 is my current racquet).
I had always thought that the 16x18 was more control oriented, or is it the opposite?

Everything else being equal (which it rarely is), the 16 x 18 will feel a bit softer on ball impact. You'll also break strings a little more often, and the strings may move a little bit more. It's all a matter of degrees though. Many of the 16 x 18 pattern rackets are very wide open around the perimeter and still fairly dense in the middle of the stringbed. Advantage: softer feel, a little more power Disadvantage: Easy to break strings on mis-hits around the edge.

Ah, thank you! My questions are answered. Thank you again to all three of you.

About a foot of string give or take a few inches.
