I've never actually posted a prediction thread, but I couldn't resist when I saw the draw. Taylor Dent seems to have a favorable draw, Mello in the first round (not particularly a good hard-court player) and Almagro in the second (another OK hard-courter, but still winnable by Taylor IMO). Thoughts, opinions, rants, raves?

I'd like to see Dent do well.

I think the conditions at IW would have been better for a S&Ver. Don't see Dent doing much in Miami.

It's hard not to root for guy given what's happened to him. I would like to see him do well also.

Taylor is slowly but surely back. Almagro is beatable, fingers crossed.

I called it, but didn't expect such a routine win over Robredo. Hoping for a good match against Federer!

What I heard is Miami used to be slower than IW.
Back in 2004, when Nadal played Federer 1st time and squarely beat Federer 6-4,6-3 at Miami. The very next year, 2005, Nadal lost to Federer at Miami final in 5 set.
But you know, all courts are slow these days. These are hardly a good condition for S&V. Only advantage is the rarity of Dent's game. Virtually no one plays S&V full time. although I'm not sure if Dent is still playing full time S&V.

Yup, still is as far as I've seen. He is sticking back on the return games more often, but he's still S&Ving 95% of the time.

And it looks like he's still fat. Guess all that time off didn't cause him to re-think his training.
