Ana? Off the court she's bubbly, but on court she's a witch with a "B". I'd go with Clijsters and Wozniacki. I'd also agree with SaintClaires about Darcis, but I can't think of anyone else on the guys side besides Karlovic.

I've heard he is very friendly off-court. Offers signatures and photographs very readily; loves the game and demonstrates his passion off court too.

Posts like that will get you banned, FYI.

Not only can you not spell, punctuate correctly, or make any sense, you also lie becuase I'd bet a billion dollars and my left nut that you've never been within a mile of them, let alone slept with both.

But as far as nice players go, I've met a few that were really nice. Bhagdatis is really nice, F. Lopez is a really nice guy as well (Spaniards are nice people in general, they're a good bunch), my neighbor got his autograph at the USO a few years back. Gasquet was very polite the one time I saw him, my friend asked him for his autograph in French and Richard happily complied, which was cool. I've also met a pro's coach, to be exact, Philip Simmonds' dad. One of the nicest people I've ever met, I had a great chat with him about the game in general when I sat next to him at the 07 USO, very calm and laid back, and knew a ton about the game. And the best part is, he was happy to talk to me, as he and I were 2 of about 9 people watching the match from the stands.

Baghdatis is easily the friendliest and most approachable pro on tour, one of the few who actually connects with the fans during a match.

I would have to go with Baggy as well. The guy is awesome with the fans from my personal experience. He's also not famous enough to get mobbed like Federer and Nadal.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I can offer my opinion on Federer vs Nadal in this department.

We were getting autographs at BNP Paribas Open this year. Federer spent more time with the fans and signed way way more than Nadal did. Nadal had a 3 hour practice session and then just left after barely signing anything. People were waiting all that time in a really tight crowd. Interestingly enough, my friend got Nadal's autograph but not Federer's, but it was a matter of luck.

Verdasco was kind of a tool. There was a line up to have autographs signed, and he left early even though there were maybe only 5 minutes worth of people left in line.

Gonzo was pretty nice.

Lsmkenpo
04-05-2009, 04:36 PM
Every tourney I have been to Nadal has nearly zero connection with the fans off the court, he comes to the practice courts like he is afraid of the fans and
and pretty much acts as if they do not exist after he is done practicing, there is no talk, and he does not look happy at all, Federer is slightly better in his interactions but not by much. Some of the best I have seen are Baghdatis, Haas, Safin, and even Roddick off the court, surprisingly all interact with the fans and are friendly.

I've never seen Safin snub a fan. I've seen Baghdatis walk away after a match he won. Overall, Marcos is good, though. I've also seen Ljubicic with kids. Guga signed for everybody at his last practice session. Fish was good also after a match. Spadea is nice. Tsonga and Roddick seemed approachable. From my perspecetive, the only one people are scared to approach is Tursunov. I'm scared to watch the guy out of fear of shrapnel.

Tell me more about Rios. I think I saw Richard Williams deny a girl an autograph. She was white.

I love how Rios played but he was pretty horrible to people. I heard he flipped off his own fans. Rarely gave autographs. Cliff Drysdale mentioned on air once that Rios wouldnt shake his hand when they met. Told Monica Seles to "move her fat @ss" in line at Bolletierri. Assaulted a policeman in Rome. Cheated on his fiance or gf then begged her publicly to get back with him. Pretty much infinite other things.

There was a SportsIllustrated article out in like 98 or 99 titled "Blame it on Rios" that was about 2-3 pages long and listed about a trillion things he did to get a bad rep.

When he played in Auckland a few years ago (before he retired) at the Heineken Open, he left without paying his stringing bill. That didn't go down too well.

Clijsters was known for being really nice also. One of the few players on the WTA that actually didn't do the limp handshake and evil look thing at the end of matches as this poster pointed out recently:

We had a completely different experience with Nadal. He was friendly, talked and signed many autographs. But I can imagine he can appear to be afraid of fans. Have you seen the amount of people escorting him to the training court/court and off? At least where we were, 8 secuity guards. 4 on either side of him and necessary too. It was a complete and utter madhouse. :)

I have been to the US Open 4 or 5 times in the last 7 years and I would have to say that Fernando Gonzalez was by far the coolest. Also, Mario Ancic and Ljubicic were really cool and hung out after their practice and talked a little bit. I am Israeli so I made an effort to talk to the Israelis and Andy Ram and Dudi Sela were awesome. Both signed autographs, took pictures, and Andy Ram had a conversation with me while we were watching one of Dudi's matches.

If I had a group of obsessed yelling screaming punching tennis fans I'd be pretty scared too. The man is also only 22 and hardly gets by with his English. That combined with his shyness makes it pretty plausible he would avoid too much publicity.

Munich is a small tournament and a great place to meet players. Baghdatis was not only friendly, he put you at ease as well. Just a regular guy. I should have invited him for a beer, but thats a bad habit.

Kohlschreiber we didn't even recognize when we bumped into him and his trainer, just walking in the crowd. I didn't know who he was at the time and then I saw him play in the final.

And we ran into Stepanek and Hingis. Just hanging around with the crowd. Oddly enough few people seem to know who they were. They looked just like another happy couple of fans. We got their autographs on the same poster. Chatted with them for a couple of minutes. Again, just regular guys.
