Hey guys. This site has some actual live shots of the new YouTek Radical OS and they also included the entire Head 09 catalogue with images of the Speeds, Radicals and the matching bags. Check out. It looks cool to me. Most of the stuff people have been saying here are right like usual. Their site says Speed available April 28 and Radical June 15.

I posted a zoomed in one a few days ago. There are a few Youtek threads around you can search and will find a lot more interesting stuff about these frames!

Good find, is April 28 the release date in US then? It has been confirmed by some Head reps that the Speed line will be officially launched at Monte Carlo Masters. (in one week's time!!)

why you prefer the rad? main difference i can see is that it's lighter.

Is it just me or is the background of the racquets in the pic above a copy of the wilson background with a red storm theme instead of blue storm theme.

nope...only on the MP, what a shame i agree. i wouldn't mind but the MP is 100sq prefer 98 and it could be a tad heavier.

My head rep came in today and had all of these. Didn't get to hit with them and they won't be available in the U.S. until first week of May. He did confirm that everyone will use the new PJ starting next week.

Biggest thing I liked which I haven't seen posted anywhere on this site yet is that they finally changed the pallet shape on the handles to a wilson handle shape. All of the frames have this and I love it, I hated the boxy shape on the old frames.

Only the Pro will adopt the new pallet as a standard to my knowledge...we've changed the grip to a demo MP and it has the usual TS82 pallet...the one in use on my former Prestige Pro

why you prefer the rad? main difference i can see is that it's lighter. They widened the hoop at the bottom and I think it is slighty stiffer than the previous though that also could have been the strings. I had a very solid feel, the one I hit with was 16X19 and thought they also have an 18X19.

I don't understand why you posted this thread. I currently have two threads about the new Head racquets, and there are many other threads where the catalogue and the hands-on pictures were already posted. Here are the links to my threads:

whats the specs on a prestige version normally?

They should keep the specs the same for the Prestige when youtek comes out:

Mid has an SW of 329 static w of 350 strung.

MP has an SW of 319 and static of 11.8oz

Pro has an SW of 314 and a static of 12.1 oz

all three version are kick@$$ :)

himynameisNIKE
04-16-2009, 02:31 PM
why are they releasing the prestige so much later than the rest of the line ???

PED
04-16-2009, 02:34 PM
sorry if this has been asked before, but is there not going to be a new prestige???

There's usually a 2 year cycle. The MG Radicals came out in Summer of 2007, the Extreme Pro came out in the spring of 07. The extremes came out first in Feb I think. The Rad's and Speed Pro and dropping soon and the Prestiges came out in Jan 08 so that would likely mean the Youtek version would be in Jan 2010. Right in time for the Aussie Open.

djoko4thewin
04-16-2009, 02:38 PM
right so why is the prestige version of youtek good? what specs change on the speed line if it's a prestige version. sorry i'm just unclear about it.

It will be better because it will have the Youtek technology and it will be the "new" model;) Seriously, I'm a sucker for a new stick and will admit it but the new one will likely be cosmetic changes and some new technology tweaks, but having said that, I never liked the flexpoint Prestiges and I love the microgels, so you never know.

hm ok, doesn't sound that it's worth waiting for it, hardly no change. but two things, on the head speed line racket, is the 100sq more like a 98 in most cases? and which racket is the one you want to demo?

Head wasn't lying with, "Most powerful tour racquet", I got to hit with both the speedpro and mp versions this afternoon, they were strung up @ 55 lbs (No idea on string it was all black) and both sticks had an overwhelming trampoline feel to them. The MP version hits a lot like a prince rebel 95 with a dampened and controlled feel. The speedpro felt livelier, crisper, and with more pop however, was more difficult of the two to control the racquet felt more like my graphite exo 93 (and even looked resembled it when I matched them up side by side id say the speedpro is around 95 sq in) but with less plough-thru and control.

The trampoline effect I felt from the two racquets was probably due to the low tension they were strung at my usual setup around 60-62 lbs, but even with the tension difference the racquets felt wildly... but! good haha they felt really nice to swing, crisp, and pocket the ball well but the feel doesn't translate to ball positioning and overall the racquets were not that impressive, and the cosmetics aren't to pleasing in person they seemed rushed and incomplete

I didn't hit with them for too long the overhitting etc... I went back to my graphite.

My 2 cents
