Just a question regarding itf vs ntrp rating system. A visitor from france is a 17-3. Just wanted to know what that is in ntrp terms.

Are you seriously asking that question with that little information, or is that a joke?

On a lighter note, what is the second serve % of the visitor? It can help determine the NTRP level as discussed in details in one of the recent threads here.

Take your visitor to a local league match. That should give that person some idea of his/her level of play. He can be 17-0 but if he only plays against people with way less skill than him, it doesn't really tell him what skill level he is at.

By the way, Vince Spadea was 0-21 at one time. Does that make him a 2.5?

France uses a rating system which spans from -30 (NTRP 6.0 or better) to 30/5 (1.0-1.5) - A 17/3 would probably be between a 2.5 and a 3.0, although I thought the French nos. went 1-5, then 15, then 30, there may be smaller subdivisions I'm unaware of.

Obviously, if 17 & 3 is his match record, there's no way of determining how good he is unless we know the ratings of his opponents.

I think French ratings are very accurate.
