That Ferrero didn't geta wildcard for MC the guy has won the event twice and is a former French Open champ your thoughts?

First of all, did he ask for a wild card?

What's more, he just won a title.

Too bad! JCF was one of my favorite pro player. Hope that he'll get into some claycourt master series event in weeks to come.

Who are you not giving one to - Roger, Lubo, Hewitt or Monaco's number 1?

I would not call it a disgrace but it would have been nice if he got it.

It was a disgrace though, when he didn't get a WC for Madrid masters last year and Cipolla (I think, or some other low ranked Italian player) got it. He actually complained about that one.

JCF has no luck with WCs.

Ferrero has done far more on clay and at MC than either Hewitt or Lubo so one of those.

I agree - just asking who you're binning; that's all.

Probably instead of Lubo because Hewitt is a former world number 1.

this...

it's a dissapointment if he did and got turned down, but I'm not raging if I don't know for sure whether he actually asked for one.

It would be a disgrace if he indeed did ask for one and was denied, but I think his plan was to play Casablanca, a week off, then Barcelona, Rome, a week off, then Madrid, a week off, and then Roland Garros. He already has a wc in Barcelona....Playing in Monte Carlo would have meant 4 consecutive weeks with a tournament, too much for someone coming back from injury.

Not really because he isn't going to go that deep into these events.

I'd take Lubicic out in that equation.

oh, so you can see the future!!, this is funny, it bothers to you that he didnt get a WC but you do not beleive in the guy. :-?

Its a disgrace seeing as what a great player he was and a former winner of the event, he's finished as a top player though but he could go deep in 1 of the events though.

I would definitely give a WC to Ferrero on clay over Lubo.

Well, if he hasn't asked for 1, then he can't get 1, that makes sense.

He'll get a WC to Rome if he asks for sure. His ranking jumped about 40 spots so he'll have an easier time... with life in general.

I haven't given up on this guy.

Some of the higher seeds are not exactly claycourt specialists. The draw could quite easily open up for JCF.

I believe it was Fognini, but yes that was a load of bs.

You are probably correct. I was not quite sure which Italian player got it.

Anyway I hope they will fix it in May and give JCF a WC.

I mean, Hewitt is a former #1 and 2-time GS champ, compared to Ferrero's 1. And Ferrero hadn't won a title in 5 yrs before last week. So it's not like he's entitled to anything. I don't know, I think "disgrace" is a bit strong in describing this.

Some higher powers don't want Nadal to lose in the first clay court tournament of the season!

Even if he did ask, he may have done so too late if the tournament officials had already promised the WCs to other players.

Not a big deal, as another poster has said. JCF already has enough on his plate in my opinion.

He's been shafted in Davis Cup as well in the past. I hope he does a lot of damage in Rome.

If Ferrero asked for a wildcard, then it was a disgraceful decision to not give him one. The Monte-Carlo director Zeljko Franulovic is a Croat which explains Ljubicic's wildcard. Hewitt had only played in Monte-Carlo twice before this year, in 2002 when he lost in the 1st round, and 2004 when he lost in the 3rd round.
The decision not to give him a wildcard for Madrid last year was even more ridiculous as people have said.
I think he was also denied a wildcard at Rome in 2005 (he was the champion there in 2001), as the directors awarded all 4 places to Italian players. The Hamburg tournament directors rejected his wildcard request that year as well.
