Hi,
Please rate my friend and I:

I'm thinking 2.0-2.5? I've been playing for just over a year and my friend for about half a year, I'm in yellow. I already know that we're not moving up to meet the ball, and our footwork is sloppy, but besides that, any ideas on how to improve would be great, thanks!
You're being too modest.
Easy 3.0 based on strokes and movement. Athleticism, no limits.
Just get the ball in, and you'd do well in 2.5 tournaments every time.
Could easily stretch to 3.5, but maybe goof balls or lotsa pace could trouble you, could..... or not.

Definitely at least 3.0 with pretty good potential if you improve footwork

Way too modest. Simple things to point out; try to have a consistent strike zone. If you watch yourself, sometimes you meet the ball high, sometimes you meet it low, sometimes you meet it off to your side-- you get the point. You want to try and have it meeting the same spot each time (or as close to it). You missed several balls, not because of your swing/form, but because of your positioning/strike zone.
Your form is overall quite developed for only a year of play, are you playing often? As you said footwork is sloppy, but I think that has more to do with not understanding how to move, rather than just being "bad".

Thanks guys! I think I rate us 2.5 because we're weird in that we emphasise alot on technique, which makes us sound technically, but we lack the experience to judge and time the bounce, which is why we're sometimes wrong footed.
As for me, I'm left handed but right footed which is why my footwork moving to my backhand wing is natural but not as natural on the forehand side..

3.5-4.0 stroke wise. But match play is what really matters, i've seen people with really good ground strokes, but horrible play during sets.
I think you could work on split stepping when your opponent hits the ball so you can move better, and i think you should prepare earlier because it looks like you prepare when the ball hits the floor, ESPECIALLY on your backhand side.
Your hitting partner should work on his backhand slice a bit more, i feel its necessary for one handers to have a good slice, but its up to him.
Other then that, nice looking groundstrokes, amazing for playing for only a year (almost unbelievable) unless you've had some good coaching from a good coach. Your hitting partner has a wonderful backhand..especially considering he's only played tennis for 6 months!

How do you guys have the head logo plastered all over the side fence?
Are you telling me you guys already got a sponsorship deal or something? :)

LOL no idea, it's a public court. Funding for tennis (or sports in general) in my country sucks, so yeah, maybe they had to get a sponsor.

Yeah I'm working on split-stepping. I dunno about my backhand though, It's working really well atm and I'm afraid to change much, but I'll try and see what happens. Thanks!

^^^
I'm not saying you should change your backhand mechanics/form, just prepare earlier, comparing your backhand with your forehand, you seem more rushed because of a later take back then with your forehand, and your forehand footwork seems better, but thats normal for most people who learned to play tennis recently (2 years or less).

I agree with the rest of the guys here in that you are no way a 2.5.
Say if you are interested please send me your email address if you are interested in a hitting session.

A creative Vado HD. It doesn't have any functions besides record and playback, but it's cheap and records in HD.

2.0-2.5 are pretty much beginners. You guys are way above that. I have seen 3.5-4.0 players that look the same but as everybody else is saying that doesn't mean you play at that level for actual matches.

Could you keep posting videos of your partner...if he only has 6 months of playing, he should be a 4.5 in no time.

i'd say 3.5 at least. If you guys have only been playing for a short while and still prob have lots to learn. I can't imagine what you guys will play like once you work on everything.
Definitely work on split stepping. I can't really offer much help cause i'm only a 3.5 myself =p. I'm going to try and post a video soon and have people help me as well.
Keep up the good work!

LeeD, you say they only have to get the ball in to do well in a 2.5 tournament.
Then why do you rate these guys 2.0?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwkUqY_VDuw&feature=channel
Both, 2.0 to maybe a stretch to 2.5.
I claim 4.0. I hit better with my right hand than those guys. I play tennis left handed.
