At about the 1 minute mark, what happens here?
How does this happen?

That's what happens when you throw on the ground your racquet the previous point... Funny though!

ROFL...imagine it happening to you when you are hitting...that's almost $200 gone hahaha

04-20-2009, 04:27 PM
Thats just crazy! Never seen anything like it before.

I tend to snap my racquets around the throat area (when I do snap them which is rare) because sometimes on my serves I hit the ground on my follow through. Carbon is such that when it goes it tends to break and does so catastrophically rather than slowly with crack fatigue propagation.

LMAO thats pretty funny.
i recall some time ago....tsonga was playing ancic and tsonga serves a hard serve, ancic tries to pound the ball back and all theres left is his stick. that was the same case. wonder why this happens since pros are usually rotating their frames around.lol

Marat... watch and learn!

Great Stuff!

What happens is that she's throwing her racquet on a hard court.
Quick check for cracks in the head, nothing spotted.
Next point ... bam... she obviously didn't check the handle/throat properly ;).
Good that she can smile about it considering she's 2 set points down after that "adventure".

Strange.. the racket just flies of the handle..

I've seen it once, where Clavet or Zabaleta (?) hit a backhand and the racket actually cracked at the throat :)

the same exact thing happend to me my racquet started cracking at the throat and then i hit and backhand and the whole head just flys off

That just shows how crappy her racquet is. The handle snapped off.

It looked like she was using a babolat, if I'm not mistaken.

Marat... watch and learn!

Marat once broke a racket like that during a serve, it's on youtube somewhere but i can't find it now. :)

obviously it was a fluke by Ana, a flash of brilliance i might add... Marat is way more consistent! :)

cheap racquet :p

04-23-2009, 05:00 PM
I cannot believe that she is smiling. It's now break point and that will most likely be a few thousand in prize money down the drain

Lol it happened to my friend at clay nationals before in the semi-finals, it broke on a forehand winner, (yea he does smash racquets often) but he's good. he won the match n the end
