Am I out of the loop?

Last week while watching Tulsa play TCU in the NCAA Tennis 64's, the TCU team used the yell, "What!" in the place of the standard "C'mon!"
Anyone heard of this before?

Funny.

Perhaps they are trying to start a trend.

Hmmm.... one could start saying:

- WAZZZZZUUPPPP!
- Don't Taze me bro!
- Rastaman!
- Mother Lover! (courtesy of SNL)
- Dyno-mite!

Been saying that for years, especially if you are playing someone younger than you, or someone you are higher than on the tennis totem pole.

Also appropriate to tack a "Son" or "Junior" on the end of it while looking at them with an angry glare. Usually they know you are just messin though.

They're yelling ROGER! as in roger federer, when they hit a 1hbh winner and its only in practices when we're goofing around.

Yea I use it, I think i got it from basketball and started using it on the tennis court, i assume others have done the same, it derives from i guess a "what b*@$h" or "what you got on that" sorta trash talk, its pretty urban i guess so to many tennis players it might b unfamiliar but its been around for a while

Yeah, I'm hearing "allez", 'vamos', 'forza' and "Ole!" more and more now...even from anglophones.

Oh, there was an Aussie I used to play with who always dreamt up different funny things to say, like, "Bob's Yer Uncle", "By the power of Greyskull", "Sesame Street!" or "BlanketyBlankKookaburra". Just corny stuff that would make his opponent wonder.

I think that took more energy than the match itself, though.

Oh, years ago I played a wise-guy from Yugoslavia who would give applause on his strings for his own winners. Funny. But I did not quite get the joke deep in a 2nd set breaker. That motivated me to lunge for every passing shot off his racquet.

I've always kept it simple, after hitting a ridiculously stupid shot (i.e. a shank drop winner or weak netcord rollover). I just walk back to the baseline in breakfast club style, fist firmly in the air.

Wow, you guys say that still? Man, that brings me back! GUIGIUaqhfaiuhsdfilh was popular in the early 70s when I started playing. It basically means that you are playing so well it's like you are hitting shots from a tree....and that you are praying loudly to keep your level up to that standard.

It also can mean, sarcastically, that your opponent will have to really GUIGIU to break you...and he will need to serve like a motherFAIUHSD to even get a sniff at a chance to pass you when you approach the FILH!
