I'm sort of low weighted, so I'm building up muscle recently. I set up my target towards Sampras or federer, but after I checked,
Sampras weights only 77 kg? how come? Federer is 85 kg(so is Nadal, they are all around 185 cm)
this strong guy only weight 77 kg? I mean, look at his heavy *** racquet,
look at his boom serve and mighty overhead is this a wrong information?

I believe Sampras was listed at 180 lbs at his last US Open but I'm going from memory. If anyone has this match could you please check the first couple of minutes. The players weight is usually mentioned during the warmups or first couple of games of the match. It' still seems rather light compared to Nadal and Federer.

Sampras is the same weight as Henman I think.
Strange.
Considering Henman did not possess a great a smash or serve as Pete did.

77kg is not that light.

There's no doubt that Sampras gained some weight towards the end of his career. He definitely looked a little bigger in comparison to his early prime years. I think they listed Sampras at 170lbs? That's probably what he weighed at age 21. I wouldn't be surprised if he went all the way up to 185-190 when he won the US Open in '02.

speed of the balls has little to do with muscle mass.

fastest forehand known was from monfils and hes kinda small. its about swing mechanics, racquet weight, hitting the sweet spot, angle, gravity, lack of spin, racquet head speed and other contributing factors.

Look - Serena Williams is listed with her weight at 14 years...

In tennis, flexibility > muscle mass.

men tend to put on muscle weight between 20 and 30, 185 for a person his height seems pretty good to me.

Sampras was listed at 176lbs by CBS in the 2002 US Open F. In the 1994 Aus Open F ESPN had him 178lbs. He was somewher in the 175lb range, during hs prime, and was little bigger towards the end of hs career.

Federer is not much bigger for most of 2004-07 he went at 177lbs, and then was listed at 176lbs. Nadal on the other hand has been listed at 188lbs. Which is not big, considering he is more muscular, and muscle has more mass. At one point Rafter was listed at 190lbs, and he was extremelt athletic and quick.

Who's the heaviest number 1 ever? I wonder if it's possible for a person 200 pounds or over to ever be number 1.

Heaviest #1. Well that I'm aware of, it would be Safin at 195lbs, depending on the last time he was #1.

Marcelo Rios.

Hmmm i doubt it, he was not that light, i think his weight was somewhere around 75 kg, that's the same as John Mc Enroe for instance.

I think Jimmy Connors is the lightest nr. 1

When I saw Fed live in Cincinnati, I remember thinking he was not only a bit taller in real life than I ever thought on TV, but much thicker. His legs are like tree trunks.

Subtract 10 pounds from Sampras' weight for the body hair.

what did Pete weigh when he won his first slam? I doubt he was much bigger than 155 lbs. he was a rail back then, although he always had those legs.

Henman isn't fat.

Sampras from 98 onwards was a BIG guy. There is no way he was the same weight as Henman. If I would say Sampras from 25 onwards had a similar build to Tsonga nowdays, powerfully built individual.

Who is the lightest # 1?

Since the inception of the ATP Ranking system. I would say Connors at 160lbs. Marcelo Rios was in the 160lb range as well, and so was Borg. That's off the wig, but I would throw Wilander in there as well, but I think he was around the 165-170lb mark.

When he won his 1st slam, I don't know. But when he played Edberg 2 years later in the final he was listed at 170lbs by CBS. Seeing that Pete had just turned 19, he would have defintely been lighter than he was when met Edberg. I'd say about 160lbs, but 155lbs could be correct. Like you said "those legs", that muscle would add mass (lbs). But defintely less than 170lbs, as you said he was smaller back then. I'll see what I can find out "officially".
