I believe that Toni is one of the GOAT coaches, but I seriously wonder how mentally strong Nadal would be without Toni's presence at a match.

you mean like at indian wells this year, where i was present to witness his thrashing of murray in the wind. if i've ever seen mental toughness from nadal it was that day. the wind was ruthless, and murray just couldn't handle it. he was just soo defeated by the conditions. nadal toughed it out like a trooper. flawless victory on his part.

Uncle Toni doesn't go to all of Nadal's tournaments. He usually takes a few of them off. As mentioned previously, he didn't come to Indian Wells. He didn't come to either Toronto or Cincy last year as well.

Trolling thread as usual from the OP. Nadal has won some Masters Series with Francis Roig as a coach.
I could ask the OP if Federer could win a title without a coach this year, but I won't.

Let me re-frame the question: Can Nadal win a Slam without Toni?

Why would you go to a slam without your coach? What a silly question!

I'm curious-If on-court coaching is frowned upon in this sport why do players even have/bring their coaches? Also I'd like to see what Rafa can do without his uncle/other family members helping him.

He won Queens Club without Uncle Toni, so I think he's alright.

Im gonna copy a comment made by one of golf's greats regarding Jack Nicklaus's coach:

Gentlemen, there is NO COACH that could have prevented Nadal from winning 6 Grand Slams

The real question is how would uncle Toni pay for his hookers and cocaine habit without being able to leach off his talented nephew?

Oh sorry then. I don't know what I remembered. I guess it was him not being around the Olympics then. As has been stated, he wasn't at Queens or IW.

Could Sampras win a point without relying on cheap tricks like hitting the ball before letting it bounce?
