What if someone out of the blue won the french open or a grand slam this year?

Wouldn't that be something?

I've been waiting for that to happen, but federer's dominance at the US Open is undeniable, Nadal at the French, Fed again at Wimbledon mostly, and either them or someone pretty predictable wins the Australian Open.

I want something unpredictable to happen for once, but tennis is so brutal. The match usually goes to the more experienced player, and rarely does someone out of the blue show up with eye popping talent.
People get hot during tournaments but they don't have enough consistency to keep it going.

It's like Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic are players that are on fire ALL OF THE TIME for per say a ranked 15 guy. jeeez louis.

Just such a huge gap.

Well it did almost happen at the AO last yr w/Tsonga. And Baghdatis did it a couple of yrs ago. It's usually at AO, but even this yr, Verdasco was the big cinderella, but he wasn't that unexpected, and he lost to Nadal and didn't make the finals.

It's virtually impossible at the French with Rafa's dominance, but if he gets hurt and pulls out and Fed and Djokovic beat each other senseless in the SF, then someone could come in and steal a FO title. Could it happen? Of course. Will it happen? Of course not.

BTW, Gaudio was #44 when he won the French. Current #44-Marc Giquel, w/ Julien Benneteau at #45. Youzhny's at #46, he could catch some magic. But then again, ... of course not.

Santoro should win it, will be his last RG. But it would need Safin to reach the final as well.
