I have been using Head Synthetic Gut 17g with no problems. After saying that I play pretty much a touch game, one customer service rep suggested that I consider Fibergel 17g. He said he really liked the feel of playing with it more. I was wondering if any of you would comment on the difference.

I would agree that it's at least worth a try. Fibergel is a little softer, probably has a little better touch. In the end, there's really only one way to find out though.

i played with fibergel in the summer. loses tension quick, plays very mushy, and it moves A LOT. I searched up some comments on this string, and I found that a lot of people who used this string ended up installing string savers to stop the excessive movement.

Fibergel is a safe, modest step or two away in the Head line from what you are using--which is probably what that fellow had in mind and doesn't have to mean a whole lot, when the standard you are used to is a traditional synthetic gut. This is a comfort string though, which is what others have said; you'd be making an adjustment to get used to the soft feel. If you like the direction Fibergel takes you in, there are others out there you'll like more. Bon appetit!

Thank you all for your comments. Sounds like I will stay with Synth Gut. I play with it at 58 lbs, which for me gives me a good combination of touch and control.

Valjean, Since I have no need to stay in the Head Line, is there a string you would suggest that I will "like more" than the Fibergel? I am a bit ignorant about strings. Thank you.
