Am I right in believing the racquet Gonzalez is using is a new Pure Storm (Most likely Pure Storm GT)?

BobFL is correct. There are already a bunch of other threads on this, but as of now, it's still an old PC+ with the paintjob of the new PST with GT Technology.

Hope they don't change the cosmetics too much from the characteristic predominant 'dark destroyer' black with red/white/silvery grey embellishments. Judging from the above pic it's looking a bit like the Aero Storms to me now?

I wish Babolat would just put this and the Babolat R string out already, I'm itching to try them haha.

Dear Alex,
Thanks for the interest you show for Babolat products .
Indeed Fernando Gonzalez, as well as Samantha Stosur, were using the new Pure Storm equipped with the GT technology during the 1/2 finals of RG 2009. The new Pure Storm GT range should be in shop by mid-august.
The red string called Revenge should be available at the same period.

Best regards

Olivier Cayreyre

That is my update regarding these racquets and string. I was too curious to wait so I contacted Babolat.
