She just turned 7 and started last december. Any feedback is welcomed but PLEASE don't be too harsh and bash her like some other threads i've seen. Thanks!

Cute! The little Sport has some talent. I'm noticing a little hesitation between the take back and the drive. Might want to work on timing so that the racquet never stops from take back to follow through. She might get a little more power that way.

Thanks guys! I think she is still growing into here 26inch junior prince. Shes pretty small for her age but will work on speed and footwork to accomodate. Overall, its kinda fun to have your little one play.

Who cares how she hits - that's the cutest kid I've seen! Congrats and have fun raising her. She would make anyone's day brighter!

She's seriously got some skills for 7 years old. PLEASE don't let her burn out on tennis. It would be such a shame.

ya she has skill at that age by the time she is 12-13 she will be a top tier junior player in your reigon and state if you continue her training

THanks! yea i try to only limit no more than 1 hour of tennis (including picking up balls:(). so far she loves it. as long as it keeps her out of trouble and keeps her away from the tv... not to mention good health, than i am a happy man!

yea agreed. but the problem is that they charge 65-85 bucks an hour. too much for my pocket. maybe i'll hit the lottery one day or something.

Awesome! I love the exaggerated forehand loop! My daughter(8) just started hitting some balls. Great footwork by your daughter, impressive!

My daughter is the same age and has been taking lessons, but she is not half as good as your daughter. She basically only has marginal interest in it and rather be in dance class or swimming. So instead of being on the court I am in the pool or in some dance hall:) Your daughter looks like she has talent and is having fun. Get her a good coach!

First of all, she is too adorable. I have two girls myself (both younger than your's) and it will be fun to watch them take up interests like this. Heck its a blast just watching them color :)
I noticed the same this as Majik and I only mention it, because I think it's interesting. I mean she probably weighs, what? 30lbs-40lbs??
That racket relative to her size that would be like me swinging a 4lb-5lb racket or more accurately a sledgehammer. Could you imagine having a hitch in your stroke if you were swinging a sledgehammer? No way! You'd get that thing moving and just hang on to it.

i'll leave the talent judgments to others, but seeing her have fun and laugh is something you don't really see when a parent is out with his/her child on a tennis court. there's way too much pressure on little kids to make it big.
i thik you should continue to make sure that she's always enjoying it.

These are real good feedback. I am a 5.0 player myself but i tend to analyze a bit differently since she is my daughter. Its good to see what others think. as far as the racket is concerned, yes its a bit big. but when i ask different teaching pros about it i get different answers. some say use a smaller one. some say if they can use a regular size racket and can swing, then use that instead. so i just went right in the middle with a 26inch instead of the standard 27inch.
as far as interests.... she always asks me to go play (almost everyday) but i sometimes get tired by the time i get home from work.
Im sure someof you know... you got to get dressed... then grab a snack... then grab your basket of balls and hall it out to the court.
If the weather is bad then she wants to play mini tennis with a sponge ball in the living room, in which i have to move all the couches and coffee table out of the way so we can have room. right now all she knows is "lets hit the ball" and have fun. there's currently no concept of scoring and strategy or competion.
Any good instructional videos you guys know of ? I like the tennis channel academy video that show from time to time.

I'd recommend FYB's video on how to smash a racket http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfPNROxLgss&hd=1
Do you think Safin just woke up one day and knew how to destroy a frame in one swing? No way! That's a skill that has to ingrained at an early age.
Also I wasn't implying that her racket was too big for her. I was just trying to illustrate it's relative size vs us swinging the same frame and how I'm surprised she's able to swing it so well with it stopping and starting like it is.
