So this year i experienced high school tennis being a freshman and playing jv and varsity. i went a combined 11-2 we had almost 9 rainouts, but played all our varsity conference matches and jv matches. now my problem is i feel that after playing high school i have become worse. 1 week after high school ended i got beat down by 2 top juniors who normally otherwise i could handle and it was humbling but i want to get back on the top of my game, and i wont lie my backhand is a liability along with my return of serve against some of these guys with huge serves(i have a big serve though). my problem isn't power its more of a control issues, i have a coach, and i was wondering what kind of drills can i do to improve my backhand and footwork. im sorry for it being this long
Best to watch vids of top players, then watch vids of yourself, and notice your late prep, lazy footwork, lack of shoulder turn, wierd flayeling swings, and lack of balance before, during, and after the shot.
Get someone else to watch the vids with you, so you can pinpoint the difference between Federer's shots and yours.

Can you slice back your backhand return, taking pace off of it to restart a neutral point?
Are you doing a split step each time your opponent strikes the ball so you are ready to move in the direction of the next ball?
Are you instantly recovering into the right area of the court after you hit your shot?
Have you asked your coach what areas you need to work on?

ok i will answer by numbering it
1. yes i can slice my backhand(i tend to do it too much, but ya i use it to reset points that aren't going my way)
2. ok for your second point ya no i do not consistently do that
3. i recover relativly quickly but not as fast as i should i guess
4. yes i have asked him but he likes to work on refining my groundstrokes and is waiting on the other stuff, but he does work on my footwork when hitting strokes
