To me , it just shows that Toni is afraid of another Sod-like event at wimbledon, trying to have some excuses handy.

Consider this - English is not Toni's first language.

They just took a couple of lines from what he had said, we don't know what the whole conversation was like. For example he might have been asked: 'are Rafa's knees as bad as they were last week?'..Toni answers: "He's not bad, normal, not too good". So perhaps he's saying Rafa is better than before but 'not too good' to play competitively.

This is like the first time uncle toni wasn't bluffing
