That's a good question. I've been wondering that myself. Guess we'll have to wait until the schedule comes out.

It will be Roger Federer as it was Sampras in 2002.

Sure I read something where Agassi had been invited to do it in 2002....oh well.

yes it was.I was wrong. It was Agassi. He may have been fourth choice, but it was all pretty special, both for the crowd and the player. With Goran Ivanisevic, last year's champion, recovering from a shoulder operation, Pat Rafter, the runner-up, in semi-retirement and Pete Sampras wanting a late start, the All England Club turned to Andre Agassi to set the ball rolling on centre court, and he duly obliged with a performance worthy of the name champion.

Good memory!:)

No probs, eventually I found a reference to it as well http://groups.google.co.uk/group/rec.sport.tennis/browse_thread/thread/ebc86583300eaeaf

Goodness knows how I remembered as I was actually in Sweden for midsummer at the time and not following most of Wimby ;)

Well it's settled that Roger (and the entire bottom half of the draw) will be playing on Monday. Roger will start out playing the first match on Centre Court.
