View Full Version : Har-tru clay wearing out shoes?

How bad is har-tru clay on shoes? Does it eat through the outsole more or less quickly than an outdoor hard court?
I'm going to be playing on green clay courts this summer for 1.5 months so I'm wondering.

Shoes generally last a bit longer on clay...I play on har-tru and hard court in the summer and my hard courts eat through my Barricades and barely any noticeable wear on clay. Good luck, clay is great stuff to play on!

I'd imagine levels of friction would be less on a surface like clay as opposed to the truer hardcourts.

From my personal experience, Har-Tru is very forgiving on hard court shoes. However, once those shoes get some wear to the point a hole is forming, the sliding from clay courts will wear them through pretty quickly.

hard courts wear out shoes faster...this is pretty much a fact unless your hartru is gravel.

Yeah any hard court shoe will last way longer on har tru than on hard court for sure. Friction is way less.

The sliding on the clay will wear your shoes out eventually, but it normally takes me about 6 months of playing several times a week until I notice my shoes getting slick and losing tread.
