Anyone know when the Norcal ESR's come out?

Just one bump - I promise I won't clutter up the board with another after this one.

But does anyone know? I vaguely remember ESRs came out just before combo season last year, so maybe some time this month?

I believe it's at the end of July. Not 100% sure though.

Oh, one more thing, ESR ratings in Norcal are not used for Combo, but they are used for Senior league.

And it used to count for mixed league when it used to start in September a couple of years ago. But now that they moved the start of the season to the beginning of the next year it's not needed anymore for those who aren't playing senior league. I had a friend talk to someone from the NorCal league office, and she was told that they're just going to give out ESR's only to seniors.

Last year, NorCal ESRs were out 7/29/08 FYI

Thanks for the info. If they're only doing them for seniors, looks like it won't make a difference for me anyway...

wow, in NC the end of season ratings don't come out until late november. how can the end of season ratings come out in late july when there are still sectional/national tournaments to be played?

ESR = Early Start Ratings. They usually come out during the summer for Fall leagues which often go into the next Calendar year.

According to the Texas Section website, they're coming out Wednesday the 15th. Not sure if that's nationwide or not.

Here's a link to the Texas Section ESR's:
http://www.texas.usta.com/Texas/Global/News/USA%20League%20Tennis/2009/2009_Early_Season_Ratings.aspx

Keep in mind that these mid-season ratings only include league play. The end of the year ratings are the ones that take into account tournament results as well as any remaining league play.

The NorCal ESRs are up. They might only be posting them for seniors. I'm torn. I was bumped to 4.0, but already ordered my 3.5 uniform. So I'm really happy, but if I don't appeal we don't have a 4.0 senior team, and I'll have to sit out my first full season of seniors.

Yeah, looks like they are only being posted for seniors, and only for those whose rating actually changed. Unless they are still in the process of updating everyone.

Congrats on your bump. Now... uniforms?!? Where in NorCal are you?

The Norcal website still says they are posting ESRs for all self rated players and for computer rated players whose rating changed. I'm gussing that they are still updating now.

Hey there...
I dont think many people care about ESR since it doesnt really do anything anymore. May be for senior mixed.

It does give an indication of who may get bumped (up or down) at year's end. They can also be used to support self-rate grievances in combo.

In NorCal it doesn't count for senior mixed. Does count for seniors, whose 2010 season starts in September.

Appeal denied. Anyone know of any SW4.0 teams in the lower peninsula looking for very young seniors....

I'm pretty sure all the lower peninsula women's teams have uniforms. Is that unusual? Okay, the bedazzled ones are unusual, but other than that...

Dunno... I play in the east bay... have sometimes watched the womens matches being played before/during/after our men's matches, and have not noticed any uniforms...

Maybe all the fashionistas are on the peninsula :)

They actually call it a Championship Year. For instance, our Championship year for 2009 is played in January of 2010. Some of our ratings might have changed by 2010. But we're still able to participate at the 2009 National/Sectional level with our 2009 ratings.

Here they are considered 2010 ratings for any league that goes to Nationals in 2010, but starts before the 2010 end of the year ratings come out. At this point seniors are the only league that fall into that category. Local season runs September through January with playoffs in Feb. Last year it was a bit bizarre, as there was an entire team of 3.5 senior ladies that were given 4.0B ratings at the end of the year, from their sectional performance the year before, and yet they were allowed to go to sectionals again as 3.5s.

So... I haven't noticed any ERSs within my leagues. Was it just for seniors this time around? If anyone can verify this, please let me know! Thanks.

In NorCal it was just for seniors, or folks that can play seniors sometime this season. My friend got an ESR and she is not eligible until Jan 1st for seniors.
