it is easier to notice on those western strokes, but is it also used for eastern or even continental?

Maybe not continental, but i use an eastern and point my buttcap at the ball.

I say yes. I'm really not sure what grip Gasquet uses most of the time, but he seems to hit with something between a continental and eastern fh and he definitely pulls the butt of the racket into the shot and even ww.

Is there a video of that stroke anywhere? I think that's what I saw in a lesson the other day.

First of all, it is really, an incorrect mental image to think of "pointing" the butt cap, because that is not (essentially) what is happening at all.
When you take your racket back and then drive it forward through the ball, because of the racket's inertia, or resistance to sudden change, it tends to be "pulled" longways first, before turning round with the face in proper position to strike the ball. It is just something that happens if you are stroking correctly and loosly. You should notbeconsciously trying to point the racket.
So, any full, hard swing, regardless of type of grip, will begin with the butt cap being pulled first to get the momentum started. A short, abreviated, swing- something more like a blocking shot, chip or volley may not necessarily lead with the butt.

I agree. I think consciously thinking about it is useless. Just develop your stroke (mainly takeback) to achieve the position so it isn't something that actually needs to be thought about.
