Lots of people saying they have a 3.5 4.5 or whatever rating. Is this just used in the USA? How is this measured? Do they all play tournaments all the time? Whats the ranking of a pro?
IS there something similar i Germany?+
thank you so much

WHy are you so inpatient??? Every post you make, you come back 15 minutes later asking if we're ignoring you.

You should spend those 15 minutes using the search function as your question was discussed 1e15 times...

Pros are 7.0 and semi-professionals & top collegiate payers are about a 6.0 level. Have no idea what used in Germany but many areas use something similar to an A-B-C-D system.

An Open category could be 5.0 or 6.0 while an A level is often a 4.5-5.0 level or higher. The D level is usually a novice class while intermediate players, around 3.0-3.5 might be classified at C players. The following document has general characteristics listed on page 10 and detailed characteristics listed on pages 11-12.

Here in Finland we have the A-B-C-D system as well. The A players are probably 5.5+ level and the B players 4.5+ players and C players are 3.5+ and D players are the rest.

I like those letters much better than numbers. .5's are just awkward, letter system is more natural, like a score grade... you get a D!! :(
