I am thinking about taking my wife and going to Wimbledon for our anniversary.

What is the best way to get tickets? Where should I stay? What events should we catch?

Can I get some insider tips?

Thanks!

I assume you mean next year 2010 since this wasn't posted until the 14th.

The best way to get tickets is through the ballot. I'm not sure if you can enter if you live overseas though, you should look in to that.

Other than that, you get in "the queue".

On match day there are 500 tickets available each show court (centre, 1, and 2), then there are about 6000 grounds tickets available.

If you want a show court ticket you will have to get in line the day before and camp overnight. There were about 50 people in line for the next day's centre court tickets at 10 am (Murray). My co-worker got in line at 2:00pm and could only get court 1 tickets.

I went on the first Friday (day 5) and was in line at 7:15 am and was #4051 in the queue. I also went the next day and was there at 6:15 am and was #4500 in line, so if you want to go on middle Saturday, get there early. There's no such thing as too early, that applies to any day.

You should stay anywhere in SW london. There aren't many hotels in Wimbledon.

And you should take the tube to Southfields, not Wimbledon.

Good luck.
