View Full Version : What is the true flex rating of the Black Ace?

I saw on TW that it indicated a stiffness of 58. But I checked prokennex.nl and it indicates something in the 60s.
so what is the actual stiffness of this racquet?
i'm looking for smth to replace my ki5 (stiffness 62) and prefer something slightly stiffer. torn between the redondo and the BA

I don't think the Redondo or the Black Ace will be stiffer than the Ki5. However, I think the kinetic system makes a racquet feel less stiff (all things being equal). I'm currently using the 5G.

The Redondo is an interesting racquet. It has a low stiffness rating, but it doesn't feel flexible so much as soft. It's still a very solid racquet, not flimsy at all, hits a very heavy ball, but if feels very soft in the hand.
Numbers won't tell you anything like that.

hmm but which stat is more accurate?
my ki5 has a flex rating of 62, but i can feel that sometimes on hard balls it is sort of bending a little backwards

Don't forget that the flex number drops when it's strung. Manufacturers list the unstrung number, which is usually higher by 3 or 4. TW always lists the strung number.
