Just a quick thread to ask how many of you who string rackets or get rackets strung by someone else, put./receive the rackets in poly bags like the pros. Personally, I think it is a nice touch but I was wondering whether it was the norm.

I have a very small home stringing business, and I am planning to start using poly bags for all of my customers' racquets. Like you said, it is a nice touch that I think customers will appreciate.

I remember the first time I received one of my freshly strung racquets back from a tennis shop in a poly bag. I thought it was really cool.

I believe that poly bagging was started as a way to protect freshly strung natural gut string jobs from the elements - dirt, dust, dampness, etc. In today's world of poly's, multi's, and syn guts, I am not sure that poly bags actually play a functional role in preserving a string job. Nevertheless, they are the norm for pros, and they are nice touches for us mere mortals.

Poly bags also tend to get a bad wrap from the "green" crowd. Since they technically don't have a huge functional use, they are seen as useless junk that simply adds to the filling of landfills. Probably somewhat of a valid point.

Take care.

Unless asked not to, I put everyones racquet in a bag. I only have one person who asks for no bag. Everyone really likes the touch, and the most common thing I hear is how professional it is. They all use the bag later to throw their sweaty clothes in, or as a garbage bag.

I know only one local pro shop that uses poly bags. The first time I got my racquet freshly strung inside the bag was really cool, but now I just don't really care about it, and I even ask them to not use the poly bags.

But it really is a nice touch for anyone who runs a stringing business, and it really gives a professional look to your business. Everyone will talk about that. Plus, it shouldn't be so expensive.

Just to add to this. Many of the people I string for bring bag their racquets inside the poly bags when they want their strings replaced. I know many of the "green people" frown upon the use of these bags, but as I have seen, they are not simply thrown in the trash. Ther are re-used, or used to store sweaty clothes, or place trash in. Some even use them to keep their dry clothes (extra socks, shirts, etc) in them before placing them in their racquet bag.

Where can i get some of these bags?

I got mine at:

Too bad more people don't request their stringers not use these bags. They are useless and just end up in landfills.

You're welcome.

Bud. Don't be so harsh. Like I said, many players do re-use them. I rarely if ever see one of these bags in the trash bins on the courts. People are pack rats, and do use them for other things when they take them out of the bag.

That said, I do appreciate your concern, and voice of reason.

They haven't had the 100 pack them for some time. The ATS place doesn't seem to list them either.

I'm not sure I want a 500 pack or 1000 I've seen on e_bay.

Is ******************.com blocked? I guess so. WOW . . . No Co-Mingling of ideas allowed.
