Never been a fan.. Too dull for me.. But hes a very talented player with a ton of potential.

But I shed to wonder if Nadal retires, Djoker fades away, Fed is gone, and Murray is left holding the bag, what would happen to the popularity of tennis if Murray was carrying it? YIKES..

Hes just an all around boring personality. Very plain looking too. It seems people either want the controversy, personal rivaliries ala mac-lendl-connors etc. Or the rebel in Andre.

Dont worry.. Many thought Pete was boring as well

Believe me, Murray off court is much to different to Murray on court.

Besides, do you ever see Federer or Nadal with a 'lively' personality on court? Cos i don't.

the better question is:

Who was a fan of Spadea before 1989 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_Feet_High_and_Rising)

Tennis would lose millions of millions of fans, the Brits would think they rule the world, that cant happen!

No I think thats what kind of hurt the rivalry between the two.. THe lack of personal rivalry. I bet the popularity would have have boomed tenfold if there was indeed a more personal one between Fed-Nadal.. But they were too nice and professional too each other.

But individually both Fed and Nadal have their own little pizzazz and style.. From the flashy outfits, to the muscle shirts and headbands etc.. That kind of draws people in I believe and they have reasonably exciting tennis games from time to time when they are putting on a show..

Murray is kind of just..... there . He doesnt have that big overwhelming game or that look.

Nothing against Murray.. But outside of Britain, would tennis be very popular worldwide with him on top?

meh for me---sorta. i don't think i've ever been his fan, but he seems to take an unusual amount of abuse here, for no apparent reason. i actually find his game to be fairly appealing.

I don't have anything against him either, he definately has a ton of potential and would be a damn shame if he didn't capitalize on his talent. I don't have anything against him as a person, he just not inherantly the most entertaining player to watch

Some would say that a players h2h v another player can elicit unfavourable reviews on these boards

I've been a fan for years, British tennis fans have known about him long before he won the US Open juniors.

Yes, long before 2008.

And he certainly isn't boring. Most people don't appreciate anything beyond ball bashing, though.

You seem to be suggesting i only like nadal, Well i must admit that i can find many things to admire about nadal such as the energy and intensity he brings to the game not forgeting his fighting spirit and his humility.
I also enjoy murrays amazing court coverage and the way his come ons gee the crowd up.
I also enjoy watching roger federer with his graceful and fluid game and his love of fashion, his modesty and the way he shuns media attention and i think roger is possibly in the top 10 of all time great players.

That's very true, he actually has a wicked sense of humour. Everyone I know who's spent time with him has great things to say about him. The interviews he does with Sky after his matches are usually always very good aswell.

A pseudo-fan since 2004 when he played Nalby at Wimbledon. I know a lot of people don't (or at least didn't) like his attitude, but I always found his dry gruffness a lot more appealing than say Djoker's cocky strut.

I was a fan since 06 but I stopped liking him starting Wimbledon this year when he turned into a total complete pusher. Maybe if he stops pushing I will be a fan once again.

I've been a fan since 2006. I like his all-round game. I like how he can just switch playing styles at will, with no discernible effect on the quality of his shots.

Although I do agree he needs to shift the balance a bit more towards the agressive side, but he's not as much of a pusher as people on here say he is. He just needs to tweak his strategy a little.

But then the anti-Murray bandwagon is strong on this forum, so no doubt I'll get flamed for even suggesting it.

Indeed. Although you said you've been watching him since his match Nalby in 04, but you must be mistaken. Murray's first ATP match wasn't until April 05, with the match v Nalby in the June of that year.

Yes, I see my misprint now, and also just realized that Feņa was a fan before the kid even won the Junior US Open, so I guess he has me beat.
