Thought it might be fun to adjust Sampras's h2h against his peers if he played his peers 11 times on clay, 6 on hard and 3 on grass.....

Agassi 11-9 (4-7 on clay, 4-2 on hard, 3-0 on grass)
Courier:11-9 (3-8 on clay, 5-1 on hard, 3-0 on grass)
Bruguera:10-10 (3-8 on clay, 4-2 on hard, 3-0 on grass)
Chang: 10-10 (3-8 on clay, 4-2 on hard, 3-0 on grass)
Krajicek: 9-11 (5-6 on clay, 2-4 on hard, 2-1 on grass)
Rafter: 12-8 (5-6 on clay, 4-2 on hard, 3-0 on grass)
Kafelnikov: 14-6 (5-6 on clay, 6-0 on hard, 3-0 on grass)
Becker: 12-8 (6-5 on clay 4-2 on hard, 2-1 on grass)

and how about Guga, who is 5 years younger than Sampras (same age difference between Federer and Nadal) I say he goes 2-9 on clay 4-2 on hard, 3-0 on grass for 9-11 overall.

Do these sound about right?

Hey what do you know.. Pete still has winning records against everyone by Bruguera and Kraijeck and chang. LOL

Nice troll post OP

Not lets see if 3 slams are played on grass and lets do the math and see what Pete's h2h's are

NO WAY Pete beats Andre 4 times on clay..he'd be lucky to get more than 2 --- remember Andre smoked Pete at 92 French in QF losing only 9 games.

A more accurate hypothetical Pete/Andre H2H:
2-9 on clay, 4-2 on HC, 3-0 on grass = 9-11 total

So he wouldn't have winning H2H against his main rival

Even if these hypothetical h2h's were still winning records, the amount of the winning % dramatically DECREASED. His h2h against Courier goes from 16-4 to 11-9. That's a HUGE difference. Actually, he'd probably only go 2-9 against Courier on clay, so I think their h2h would be more like 10-10. And like drwood said, if Sampras went 3-8 or 2-9 against Sampras on clay (probably more likely than 4-7), then his h2h is 10-10 or 9-11 instead of 20-14.

On the flip side, what if 11 of Fed's matches against Nadal had been on indoor carpet and only 2 were on clay? Bet he would have gone 8-3 in the indoor matches.

Probably.. But they dont. You have to produce on all surfaces.. We can play these games all night.. What if Pete got to play 3 slams on grass like Laver? What if all of Sampras slam matches against Agassi were on fast grass and fast hardcourts? PEte's h2h would be ridiculous and he never would have lost to Andre. Or Bruguera or Probably even Courier for that matter

Pete is simply inferior to Federer on all accords. I think most sane minds realize that.
